Don’t they have the option to switch next year?

I don’t recall which years are switch or just given to pels.
This is what I’ve read:
No. 4 pick in 2019
Top-8 protected in 2021, becomes unprotected in ‘22
Unprotected swap in ‘23
Unprotected first in ‘24
Unprotected swap in ‘25

Lakers will be the laughing stock of the league next season.
They will blame it on Raptor Kawhi or better, on his Uncle Dennis: aka Lavar Dennis Ball ...

Convinced the Blazers will add one more player ( I think more likely an actual big than a vet PG) and then leave 1 roster spot left for later. Who is left that would be worth a minimum contract? If the TPE is really the $3+M number vs the $1.8M number, then who are some possible candidates for that salary slot?

well, Kawhi, aka Hamlet, might take several more days to decide:

is it ok to think he's a ditz?

Sure, but it's better to think he's making the Lakers hold their cap space until there is no one else to get.

Take your time, Kawhi!

Per Luke Adams of HoopsRumors:

"Speaking of Saric, the trade sending him to the Suns will need to be completed before the Wolves’ deal with the Blazers, since Layman will slot into the trade exception created by Saric’s departure, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks (Twitter link). That exception will be worth $3.48MM, so Layman’s starting salary is permitted to start at $3.58MM (trade exceptions have an extra $100K cushion)."

Too bad we couldn't have received Saric out of the deal.

Was just reading this ESPN story about the Knicks' free agency choices and came across this bit of info which shocked me:

Remember: The Knicks haven't had a single first-round pick get a multiyear second contract with the franchise since Charlie Ward, who was drafted 25 years ago.

Can you imagine a quarter-century of that level of draft ineptitude? Sometimes we need to realize how much worse it really could be.
