Oh god no. Our summer league guards suck. Robinson is a long way from contributing in the NBA, if ever. Even Hoard isn't NBA ready. Need to see more of the Dauminator, maybe give him a two-way and find out.

Yeah there’s no way in hell the roster is going to be filled out by summer league players. They’ll find some vets on minimums. Only question is who and whether they add one or two. My guess is two because we’re already down one guy.

Westbrick to da Rockets is trending ...
I think we should bring him on board as third option.
I hate Westbrick as much as the next guy. That said, can you imagine him coming into the game off the bench and just decimating the other team's backups?

What's impossible to imagine though is him being okay with being a backup LOLOLOL

Interesting though. I wonder how he'd do as a SF. His shot is undependable, but there would be no more double teaming Dame. Double Dame and Westbrick would get the ball and have free reign to the basket. Collapse on his drive and two guys would be open for a three. :)

This is like Lebron joining the Pelicans now...boogie...ad and rondo....

So projecting our capspace for next year, if we simply let 46 mil go (Bazemore/Whiteside), and Hood leaves, we'll be left with:

Dame (32 mil)
CJ (29 mil)
Nurk (13 mil)
Collins (5 mil)
Simons (2 mil)
Little (2 mil)
Trent (2 mil)

dead salary (5 mil)

It's about 90 mil, so we'd have about 20-25 mil of capspace. I wonder if we can work out some unbalanced trades. I know the FA class is weak, but this summer has shown us that we can work imbalanced trades for guys who are souring on their situations. Really need to be prudent if we want to add salary this summer past 2020.

Lakers are getting Avery Bradley. They filled our their roster quite nicely tbh.

Jabari Parker got 6.5M, surprising to me.

JaMychal Green 2/10 to LAC...

Love that JaMychal deal. They still have MLE right?

We are paying 2.3M per year to Nicholson until the 23/24 season. What a fucking disaster. I know we had to stretch him to avoid the luxury tax but good god that was an awful decision. If he wasn't stretched he would be expiring this season....

And 1.9 mil for Varejao through next summer.

I think that the deadline trade is the best chance to add a quality player. Not enough money, not enough quality free agents, and not enough ability to attract free agents for Portland to plan on a summer signing as the way to contention.

I don't think they've used it yet but maybe I'm missing something...??

all they would have, if they haven't used it, would be the room-MLE which is worth 4.77M. At this stage of free agency, that's some significant leverage

You don't get the MLE if you use your capspace. They signed Kawhi into their capspace along with taking in Harkless. The only thing they would have is their room exception which is ~5M. JaMychal Green just signed for 2/10, which I am assuming is into the room exception, not bird rights because of the numbers. They had to renounce him to sign Kawhi since his cap hold is ~14M.

Ah okay. So that’s basically their roster. They will be a player for Iguodala I guess, maybe sending back expiring Harkless.

I laughed at Bill Simmons idea of Harkless, Jerome Robinson and Lou Williams for Iguodala trade. That’s literally the worst trade idea of the last month and there have been some truly mad ones that Phoenix executed in real world.

This is actually decent.

Rondo / Cook / Caruso
Green / Bradley / Daniels
Lebron / KCP
Kuzma / Dudley
Davis / Cousins / McGee

Could have a ton of chemistry issues, but if healthy, I think they'll compete for top 3 in the conference. ugh.

you might be right

on the other hand the Clips started with a ton of cap-space and I'd imagine they would have timed the sequence of transactions to maximize benefit. I don't think Green's cap-hold would have been a problem, but the combination of the cap-hold and absorbing the Harkless salary probably was too much for the space they had

Yeah that’s a decent depth chart. Not enough shooting and it will take time for them to get used to playing with each other but that’s a contender.

I prefer Clippers roster though.

Beverley
George
Leonard
Green
Zubac

Off the bench Shamet, Harkless, Harrell, Williams, McGruder and maybe Robinson or Kabengele if they are ready. That’s an excellent rotation. They have so many awesome contracts too.

He signed for 2/10, which is what all the room-exception guys have got, like Kanter. He also mentioned he turned down bigger offers to return to the Clippers, so I'm almost certain it's the room exception.

Any chance of a 3 team trade with okc and Detroit that lands Blake in Portland?
