Yeah, because they tried to play him when he was injured and downplayed his injury.

The point is, he was willing to invoke the nuclear option to get what he wanted - and it worked. As to whether it was justified...we'll never know for sure, but SA doesn't have a history of abusing players.

I think he’d be crazy to stay in Charlotte, they’ve done nothing to help him win.

People outside Portland say the same about Dame. It's about priorities and happiness. The guy wants to be a foundational piece, not a guy who went somewhere chasing rings. He wants to be known as the guy who made the difference, built the culture. Not everyone is happy just by getting the biggest contract.

But theyve only done it once... they underachieved the two years prior. Who knows what they are at this point. We need to make serious upgrades this summer to establish ourselves.

Huh?

I mean, I guess that can be your assessment. Jeez, when did Michael Jordan win his first title? How far was he into his career? I remember those Bulls teams going through steps. First the Celtics were in their way. Then the Pistons. What serious upgrades did they make? Did it work out for them?

I mean, you might be right. I just think too many forum members have shifted into desperation mode, and the hyperbole here is strong right now.

If you can get AD for the right price, you do it. But you don't HAVE to do it.

They got Pippen, and a new coach.

Barring catastrophic injuries, the Blazers are going to contend, with or without AD.

People focus on being swept by Golden State. And yet we were in command in three of those four games. I don't think fans should overlook that. Part of the reason we are so disappointed is that we were doing the EXACT same thing to the Warriors that the Raptors did to the Warriors. We just didn't finish those games. We inexplicably didn't play the third quarter in any of those games. And you know what? I'm not sure Anthony Davis changes that.

I'd love to see a fan of some other NBA team stumble onto our forum right now. They'd think we were losing it. We took another step forward when we weren't even supposed to be in the playoffs and half of our fan base is in panic mode.

It'd be like someone taking a normal cruise through the North Atlantic and jumping overboard because they heard there were icebergs.

We're behaving like the league is running away from us in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.

Bringing in Jackson as coach and installing a new offense proved to be pretty significant.

It did. Of course, the triangle offense won everywhere it went. The players didn't have much to do with it.

I think the triangle offense is one of those legends that really doesn't hold up when we look at it. That team amassed talent primarily through the draft and made shrewd moves in putting role players on there.

Jackson's genius wasn't so much in X's and O's as it was in his ability to handle personalities. But the talent on that team would have won regardless of their offensive system, IMO.

It took FOUR years for the Bulls to win the title after getting Pippen in the draft and making Jackson coach. Everyone seems to remember it like they won everything overnight. They didn't.

He doesn't remember the Bulls, Celtics or Lakers of old. He hardly can recall the way the Warriors have been built. They sucked also for years.

I got absolute taken to task for saying these very same things just last week.

Are you talking about the Lakers or the Bulls? It happened twice but in both places they built a team with generational talent.
But it takes certain players to run the Triangle.

I agree about the triangle. I was responding to the implication that the Bulls drafted Jordan and then just sat back and let the cake bake. In fact, they made multiple changes between the drafting of Jordan and their first title.

6 years of trying to get things to work. And that is with the greatest player of all time on their roster.

It's not an exact science, that's for sure. Look at how many coaches/GMs/players the Warriors went through before they got it right! If they had quit and decided change is bad, they wouldn't have those banners flying in the rafters.

I really hope the Paul George/OKC and the Kawhi Leonard/Raptors story changes the why NBA front offices think. I'm so sick of hearing about teams afraid to go after players because they might be one year rentals.

NFL teams do it all the time.

Not that I'm saying Portland deserves to be higher, but that is the worst power rankings of all time. They're basing rankings on teams signing stars that can't even happen for 3 weeks.
Yeah I read and thought wow this is dumb in terms of where they put teams, only posted it because thought it could he interesting to talk about.

I think Portland should be somewhere between 4-6ish 10th seems low...
