Oh hell no! We're going to ruin our flexibility in the last year before Dame's Super Max kicks in on James Johnson?

That would seriously ruin everything good that's happened this summer in my opinion.

Next years free agent class sucks and we wouldn’t have enough space to absorb a star anyway.

Isn't Gallo a small forward? He plays like one.

Woj mentioning OKC would like to find a deal sooner rather than later probably means it’ll happen within a day or so. Bet they’ve been working on it from the minute they made the George trade.

If they find a deal on Westbrook, it gives them a lot more time to find a good deal for Gallo. They could probably wait until the deadline before they move him.

That sequence of Clippers trades since Griffin trade was extremely good:

Trade Griffin for Harris, Marjanovic, Bradley and a first that became SGA

Traded Harris and Marjanovic for Shamet, Muscala, Chandler and two firsts (Miami 2021 and Phila 2020)

Traded Bradley for Temple and Green

Traded Muscala for Zubac

Traded cap space (which they essentially created by trading Griffin in the first place) for Moe Harkless and Miami’s 2023 pick

Traded Phila’s pick for Kabengele

Traded Shai, Gallo, three of their firsts and both Miami picks for George

They essentially traded Griffin and 3 firsts for Paul George, JaMychal Green, Shamet, Zubac and Kabengele. For all the talk about the huge price they paid for PG, how they obtained some of these assets was very impressive. Shamet, Zubac are both worst a late first which their 2022 and probably 2024 picks will be. They basically flipped Blake Griffin for Paul George in two years, with the small caveat that George brought Kawhi (the other way around really, I know).

Miami can’t trade Meyers yet I think, otherwise him and Dragic would make for a nice expiring $30million to throw into Westbrook deal. If it becomes Dragic, Meyers, Winslow and them lifting protection on 2023 pick, that’s probably the best deal OKC are going to get anyway. At this point it’s about getting rid of that contract and maybe getting 1-2 assets on top of it but they won’t get major value. If they could get both Winslow and Herro that’s a steal.

Gallinari would be cool on this team and Portland is probably the best fit for him but I agree it’d be awkward to trade Bazemore now.

Had heard, and have been hearing we are involved somehow

Miami has KZ Okpala who I’m almost certain Portland was interested in. Maybe we surrender a first for him and Miami uses that pick plus Herro and expirings (including Baze) for Russ. We also get Galo in the deal. Could we sign Okpala for the minimum?

Literally no idea. I probably should just keep my big yap shut

Nevermind okpala just signed and can’t be traded for another month.

KZ signed

I think if it was related to Gallo, Woj wouldnt have tweeted this:

Not really. Woj tweets what his sources want him to tweet. This could just be a ploy to improve his trade value.

He tweeted that we were looking at Bazemore as Hood insurance. Well, Hood came back, things change.

Except Olshey didnt know Hood was coming back. Olshey would presumably know if he wanted to trade for Gallo

Olshey wanted to trade for Gallo doesn't really change what a Thunder source would say about Gallo. I'm just saying it makes more sense for OKC to say "we value this guy" rather than "he's not part of our future" if they wanted to get the most trade value for him.
