I'm no Mixum, but it's becoming clear to me that the Blazers will finish with the 8th seed when it's all said and done.

The difference between me and the nay-sayers, is that I have NO problem finishing with the 8th seed. That will be roughly, if not exactly, 50 wins. 9 wins beyond what we did last year. I'll take it. That is a HUGE improvement.

-Utah will pass us.

-Denver will keep their lead over us.

-Phoenix won't make the playoffs.

That's how it's gonna be. But it's ok!! Just make the damn playoffs. The Blazers are fortunate to be where they are right now, and we all know it, so let's not lose perspective. Making the playoffs, at ANY seed, is a complete and undeniable success.

edit: I hope this thread gets bumped in April.........to tell me how stupid I was.....

Utah's schedule is brutal. They won't pass us.

I hope you're right.

Have you seen their schedule? If you are predicting that we have 50 wins, then Utah will get somewhere around 46. They have 10 road games against above .500 teams and I can't recall them winning more than one on the entire season.

We'll finish higher than 8th, dude. You're upset about tonight's loss but it's just one game. We've won 10 of our last 14 games. We're only 1.5 games out of 3rd place in the Western Conference.

Also, 7th seeded Utah is only on track to win 49 games, percentage wise, but 15 of their last 25 games are on the road and most of them are against very good teams. 8th seeded Dallas is only on track to win 48 games. 9th place Phoenix is only on pace to win 47 games.

My point? Winning 50 games will get us much more than an 8th seed.

You are correct. Utah is only 9-17 on the road this season. They might win on the road tomorrow, but after that, they'll be in trouble.

It's up to you.

We've already established the team wins when you don't watch and loses when you do so...

Take an extended vacation from viewing please.

..

Even if you're happy with it, this is still a very MIXUM-ish thread. You're predicting that we will crumble and fall all the way to 8th. We are in a position to get a 3rd seed, maybe even 2 seed! Have faith.

Believe me, I know we need to play better on the road..but we are better than and will finish higher than 8th.For some reason we are slumping on the road, but we'll right the ship

Nah, we ain't slumping on the road. We're just a bad road team.

Yeah...it is for a WC Playoff team. Plus we've only won three games against above .500 teams (Hornets, Magic, Heat).

It's negated by the second-best homecourt record in the WC, no?

We ARE slumping, because earlier this season we were money on the road....

Last year, the Jazz were 17-24 on the road and they made it to the second round of the playoffs! Dallas and Denver were also 17-24 on the road.

Also- Detroit was above .500 when we beat them if that counts.

We were beating bad teams on the road and losing against good ones, just like we are now.

That wasn't my point. I wasn't talking about overall. My point was that we are a bad road team.

I said our road record wasn't that bad and you said "Yeah...it is for a WC Playoff team" so I responded by pointing out that it's not that bad considering a 17-24 Utah team made it to the second round. And there were two other 17-24 teams.

Also, the Blazers were 14-27 in 1977 and we won it all!

The point, yet again, is that 12-16 isn't that bad. Utah, at 9-17, is bad. We're just okay.

I DIDN'T SAY THAT WE COULDN'T MAKE THE SECOND ROUND.

Holy crap KS. All I said was that we are a bad road team, and WE ARE. I said nothing about how it could affect us in the playoffs.

You said our road record is bad for a WC playoff team. And I say it's not, considering three playoff teams last season had 17-24 records on the road and Utah has a 9-17 record this year.

Blazers = 13th best road record in the NBA. So we are not a "bad" road team. 17 teams have worse road records.

I said it's a bad record and we are a bad road team, that's it. Utah also has a bad road record and is a bad road team. Utah had a bad road record last year and was a bad road team last year too. Whether they made the 2nd round is irrelevant. They are a bad road team last year and this year and so are we.

13th best in the league.

Well considering half the NBA isn't in the playoff race, 13/16 is not that good.

the blazers have the 2nd worst road record out of the all the teams currently in the western conference playoff race. but i guess i agree that they aren't really bad for a western conference playoff team. the only teams that are really good road teams are the lakers and spurs(and the top 3 in the east).
