Even though Melo would have probably helped us...we kind of dodged a bullet.

I highly doubt he would’ve helped us. If anything, he would destroy chemistry. Dude has already said he isn’t playing the same role he played last year and only deferred because PG3 and Russ Westbrook. Yet, he just opted in. Gonna be fun for OKC.

I'm not a huge Melo fan either. I just think Dame would have gotten more out of him, plus he would have started for us most likely.

You'd be trading away defense for ….nuthin'
Don't care. Both players are net negatives on the team.

I personally wouldn't let Mello ever suit up for the Blazers. I'd trade for him & then try to buy him out.

That's why I'd only give up Turner (& Meyers). It'd be completely contract driven.

I know I'm being snarky, but when I read your post, my first thought was, "yeah, he would have helped us set the all time record for fewest team assists".

Remember the way everyone was bitching about being last in assists, too much iso ball, etc. I don't think having all of our top 3 options being iso-centric players would have helped the situation. In fact, in that regard, Melo relies MUCH more on the iso than Dame and C.J. That is, and has always been his game.

Unfortunately, he has gone from a high-scoring ball stopper who doesn't play defense to an incredibly inefficient ball stopper who doesn't play defense and makes $27 million a year. This isn't 2008 (circa 2008 Nate McMillan would have LOVED him). The game has changed, and Carmelo hasn't (well, other than getting a lot worse).

I honestly think he would have made us worse. Think about it. OKC added both PG13 and Melo. They won 1 more regular season game and 1 more playoff game. Paul George had a solid season and made 3rd team All NBA. George alone should have been good for another 6 - 8 wins. So, in my estimation, Melo actually cost them 5 - 7 wins. George was +2.6 BPM and Melo was -3.8 BPM. Anything Paul George added was more than offset by Carmelo.

No thanks.

It's not Melo's fault, those little bitches in the league office wouldn't let him play in a hoodie....

Pat Connaughton > Carmelo Anthony

;)

Evan Turner > Carmelo Anthony
In a vacuum, in the current NBA, absolutely.

For our team, I don't think so. Turner on the Blazers is one of the worst fits of player-team in the league.

Not gonna disagree. But I'd still rather have Turner's defense and attitude.

This is absolutely hilarious. I can't believe they would do this kind of thing for professional athletes.

An apparent recruiting pitch was leaked to SI.com's Robin Lundberg and it is in form of a voiceover the Lakers plan on using with video.

The person recruited to do the voiceover was told that it should be "less Morgan Freeman/Denzel Washington, and more Jamie Foxx."

The pitch entitled "Two Dreams" makes hints about who the pitch is for.

The text reads:

When you were just a kid

In your room
Dreaming from Palmdale

We were dreaming too.

While you dreamt, we built - built for your arrival

And while we dreamt, you built too
Becoming one of the world's greatest.

Life's most powerful dream are the one we realize ourselves.

The ones that turn us into legends.
That kid from Palmdale always knew it
Now the world will, too

Of course, George grew up in Palmdale, Calif. and played his college ball at Fresno State.

Too bad nobody on this team has any idea of the European market. Great signing for the Celtics. PatBev style.

Likewise, Carmelo in OKC is also one of the worst fits in the NBA. Pairing a ball dominant inefficient ball stopper with one of the biggest ballhogs in the league was never going to work.

I'll leave it to you figure out which one is Carmelo and which one is Westbrook.

Or even better, anytime some random thought comes to mind, I create a new thread for it?

Then I would lose respect for you. That would mean you are just following the trend...not being a trendsetter

Fools on twitter are out campaigning for the Blazers to pick this dude up w/MLE. :smack:

No way, that guy is a nut case. He only shows up when he's playing LeBron and then just so he can annoy him by blowing in his ear.

He shot .289 from 3-point range last year and is at .303 for his career. Compare that to Evan Turner (.318 last season, .301 career), who, just 10 posts ago, in this very same thread, was called one of the worst fits in the entire league. Indiana, who knows Lance better than anyone, could have kept him for $4.3 million, less than half the MLE, and chose not to.

Guess people don't know of the beef he had with Evan Turner (and vice versa).

Also, think you need to unfollow some people

Said beef: https://sports.yahoo.com/news/pacer...-take-swing-at-hawks-in-game-2-062419341.html

Probably got into a heated argument over who's the worse 3-point shooter...

"You are."

"No, you are."

"No, goddamit, you are!"

"No way motherfucker, it's you!!"

"You leave my mother out of this, or I'll Delonte your mom!!!"

"That's it, them's fighting words!!!!"

"Bring it BITCH!!!!!"

:rocky:
