The OFFICIAL "Dame Lillard was left off the All-Star Team" thread

I just feel it's extremely unfair that he's being penalized for the past couple weeks. Our team has been decimated by injuries, Dame is clearly playing hurt after that nasty collision with Wade, and it's complete BS that the Thunder got two All-Stars with their current record.

What's worse is people will say no one will watch if there is no Durant... No one fucking watches anyway! All Stars should be the best players in each conference not the fucking lifetime achievement award or the fan favorites.. It should always be best players on best teams.

Beware NBA.

I just want to thank the coaches who feel I wasn't good enough, the fans that didn't think I was good enough , and Adam Silver also for not thinking I was good enough. This isn't unfamiliar territory for me , it's actually what my life has been inspired by. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed or that I don't feel disrespected but it's not too much to handle. Not the first or last guy to be snubbed. "You should have been there" isn't good enough for me. But anyway, The reason I'm in these shoes is because I've always use the hand I was dealt to my advantage... A wise man once told me... " it ain't always gone be peaches and cream but somebody has to pay for the reason it's not ... One way or another " ... #ImThankful#Real#NonAllStar#RipCity#YellowTape

Something tells me he got some feedback that it wasn't so smart to call out Adam Silver by name.

More importantly, he had also called out the fans, and probably realized that's a bad idea.

FYI, listening to the NBA lockdown podcast--must have been recorded about 4 hours ago, because the Boogie-as-replacement news came in while they were recording. They agreed that Cousins was absolutely deserving, but were shocked that Lillard isn't in, agreed that he's clearly the biggest snub, and said they can't wait for Lillard's "Gilbert Arenas-esque revenge tour" following this snub. To quote: "Holy mother of everything--this is the wrong dude to snub. Team USA and the all-star game? This dude is going to go off on a tear, and it starts tonight in Atlanta." They even said that he should tell LA to have his surgery now so he can just go score with impunity and not have to worry about sharing the ball.

Unfuckingbelievable.
How does a sub 500 Thunder team get TWO all stars?
No argument with Klay Thompson or Harden even though he's a jerk.
How do the underachieving Clippers get two?

Great Scottie.

I hope Damian leaves all his opponents for the rest of the season looking like the rat my cat Zoey killed last night ... then played with for 2 hours.
(yeah, gruesome, I know)

This sucks. It's right up there with the All-Star snubs of Rod Strickland.

He's pressing. He's been pressing and forcing things. He needs to go back into silent assassin mode. Lull them to sleep then strike like a cobra.

Still fuming over this. Cousins should have been voted in by coaches instead of Duncan. How is TD and his pedestrian 14/10 on this roster at this point in his career? Especially considering he doesn't even WANT to be there! This is the worst all star snub in any sport I've ever seen. How does the league not see what they have in Dame? Superstar performer who's exciting to watch, clutch as anybody in the league right now, clean cut kid with sqeeky clean image who represents himself/his team/the league in an exemplary fashion, Iron Man that's NEVER missed a game even if it means playing with fingers in a splint on his shooting hand that has obviously affected his shot, amazing underdog story of a 2 star recruit from Weber State, a guy who always makes time for the fans (autographs/charity events, public appearances) . . . the kid is EXACTLY the type of player the league needs. How does Adam Silver not understand this? He's brilliant on and off the court. How many guys like him do you see in the NBA today?

I still hold out hope for another injury replacement or maybe Duncan does the right thing and says he's "not healthy enough to play". It's just too hard to accept that this is over. I wish Paul Allen would be more vocal about things like this. How would Mark Cuban react to this news? Take a stand for once Paul!! It doesn't look good to potential FA that in PDX a player as great as Dame doesn't get the credit he deserves. Would he have been snubbed if he played in LA? That costs guys $ when endorsements aren't there & nobody notices your performance. Need to fight this with everything we have because it's bigger than just one bad snub.

Harden just went down with a left knee injury against Detroit. It didn't look bad but he was laying on the ground (which is normal for him) but he was clenching that left knee.

A way that the Blazers can protest Dame's being left off the AS team is have Wes and LaMarcus wear number zero in their respective activities.

Courtesy of ESPN’s Marc Stein:

“That I had to decide between DeMarcus Cousins and Damian Lillard. I didn’t like having to make that choice. I wish I had another slot for Damian because I think he’s deserving of being an All-Star as well.?

“I rely heavily on our basketball folks in terms of where the coaches’ [voting] came out. Of course there’s a fan vote for the starters and the coaches choose the reserves. DeMarcus was very high up on the coaches’ vote, so that had a strong influence on me. Ultimately I deferred to them… It was essentially a tie in my mind, so I ultimately deferred to the coaches.”

Asked specifically about expanding the rosters in the respective conferences to 13 or even 15 players, Silver said: ?”I think that’s something that will get very strong consideration. I think that’s an issue that we’ll end up discussing with the Players Association.

The commissioner also says he reached out to Lillard and explained his decision to go with Cousins:

“He was disappointed, but he understands,” Silver said of Lillard. “When I say he understands, he doesn’t agree with me, but he’s been in this league for a while now and he understands that’s how things go. I think he’s equally disappointed with the coaches because I was the third-tier as a selector. The fans and the coaches went first. I’m sure he’s going to continue to demonstrate on the court why he deserves to be an All-Star.”

I think his recent slump, and the fact that the team has struggled lately, has made it easy for me to forget just how good his season actually has been.

I hope last nights game was the star of hims taking it personally. He's going to need to break out of the 3 point shooting slump soon. Hopefully he has a great game against Phoenix.

That's my major beef. Westbrick didn't deserve to be in the all star game. They aren't even making the playoffs as of now. They want to talk about Lillard's recent slump and how the team has lost a few game? Well the Thunder has been in a slump all season and Westbrick missed 14 games

That is beyond compelling.

Repped like a Boss for posting that.

Well I thought Lillard should have made it over Westbrook (and Durant) BEFORE I saw this video. Now Im just pissed again. If its all an eye test or popularity contest for fans and coaches for that matter then it really is pointless. I certainly dont think it should be all stats but it they dont cont for anything then they might as well call them the 2015 Prom Kings instead of All Stars
