THE "OFFICIAL" February 21, 2013 Trade Deadline Thread...

I have no idea what they are, but I bet the % of players who are wanted back by the team they play on is higher than not. Maybe if Portland traded for Blair nad he worked out we would have a better chance of signing him this summer? Same with Hickson for other teams maybe? Just a guess though

I bet that is more true if the player had enough time to adjust to the city and teammates. But we are looking at less than 60 days. I wonder if that is long enough. Especially during the dog days of a season when teams often give up when they are out of the race. Does that sour a player on a franchise?

My guess is Blair (Like all young players in search of their first big contract) will take the best offer regardless who it is. Not sure how much we would offer him. But you are right, if we like him a lot and are willing to offer as much as anyone else, we would have a decent shot.

Rudy would be by far our top bench performer if he came back to our team tomorrow. That may not be saying too much with our bench unit this year however.

JJ Hickson, Victor Claver and a 2nd round pck to San Antonio for Danny Green and DeJuan Blair. Make it happen Neil!!

Jennings is good. I don't think he's as good as he thinks he is, but he's good.

I like Green a bit, but I honestly think Claver will be pretty solid
I'm not in a hurry to trade Claver. Of all our backups, Claver and Leonard are the only ones I'd try to keep.

Ya I agree but we need scoring off the bench more than we need solid all around role players off the bench. I don't think Claver is ever going to avg 10+ points a game. He's a very solid smart player but not a scorer.

Technically we need both. And I doubt people are banging down the door to trade for Claver anyways so no harm keeping him for now.

Of course if it takes Claver to upgrade our starting five, you don't think twice. But you try to pawn off someone else first.

Phoenix is said to be gutting the team, so would you try to do this if you were Portland?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine/?tradeId=bkooxjp Portland also sends 3 mm in cash and a future 1st

Gives the Suns a young center they might be able to build around and clears millions in cap space, nets them 3 mm and a future 1st

Gortat, Dudley, Morris for Hickson, Leonard, Williams, Babbitt. 3mm and a future 1st

I can't see your trade MM, but I'd see if they would bite on

Gortat for Hickson, Nolan, and Elliott.

Of course they wouldn't.

If they're blowing things up, why wouldn't they want to clear his 8 million or whatever he's making AND have an inside track at signing Hickson (if they were so inclined).

So they'll clear cap....and use it on Hickson

Pay Gortat or Hickson.....hmmmmm

I'm not saying they would pay Hickson, but they would clear his contract off the books and still have a young guy who produces in the short term. If they sign him, great, if not then they've cleared Gortat's 7.2 million off their books. I'm just going off MM's rumor that Phoenix is gutting the team. :dunno:

I want to see the sign hanging on the Blazer management offices all the way up until the deadline. Nobody is untouchable.
