Exclusive The official Lamarcus Aldridge free agency thread (1 Viewer)

It'd be funny if he shocked us all and signed in Phoenix. Hey - if he's concerned about extending his career, their medical staff is legendary...

I'm old enough to remember how Tim Duncan was on his way to Orlando until David Robinson flew back from vacation to persuade him to stay.

Who's our David Robinson?

It would be Lillard but I wonder in my darkness if he'd rather be a solo act.

I can't decide what I'd be thinking if I were Aldridge. I think I might be a little put off of LA and San Antonio knowing that I'd always be compared unfavorably to Kobe/Shaq and/or Duncan. And you can't really trust LA not to offload you the minute they think they've got a shot at somebody better.

No need to shoot the messenger. Simply passing on what I've heard from two people I really trust.

It's hard to accept, but it's always easier to expect the worst.

No one is doubting the worst. But if they would have told you in February (and you posted it then) it would be much more believable that they knew back then that he was almost 100% out the door.

Every team he meets with will probably offer max, even if they don't have it. It'll be on the teams to unload contracts or force Portland into a S&T.

You would have believed it MORE when we looked like a WCF contender and healthy?

You know what: if Aldridge leaves, I think I'd just want to do a Philly and use our cap space to absorb contracts other teams want to dump so long as they give us picks. I want to crash and burn and get a shot at a top pick rather than just fill up space on second-tier guys and just get worse picks (or lose the pick altogether).

...but only after offering EVERY SINGLE RFA a max offer sheet that makes life shitty for his team. Starting with Leonard and Draymond Green and working through Khris Middleton et. al. Just so other teams can have a little bit of our pain.

Not then I wouldn't have, but I would find it more credible now.
Fair enough. All I can say is that I've been following this forum and contributing (albeit sporadically) for a very long time. Not that reputation means anything on an Internet forum, but I think I've proven I'm not mixum or BGD.

I am not doubting you. I am doubting them. That they were 90% sure he was gone back in February.

Seeing teams like the suns and Toronto on his list of teams getting meeting a makes me think this really is the "everyone pay attention to me" your. It actually makes me more confident he might be coming back

What fun would it be if Lamarcus let everyone know where he's going before he's been wined and dined..he calls Olshey all the time, it's not like they don' t have at least 2 scenarios..one with him staying and one with a sign and trade that he already knows about...nobody would take him to dinner if they knew he was part of a move one way or the other. Going to see a lot of smoke screens for the next week and a half.

Man this guy really screwed us. I wish we traded this dude when we had a chance. He just straight lied to us

Keep on hammering away...If he has any representation following the forum....you might guilt him into staying...

The setup for a pending disappointment re: Aldridge (from tonight's O-Live article):

Can you imagine a lineup of Plumlee and Meyers Leonard leaking out for fast breaks?

Same with Monroe if we got him, the dude might be the best big in the league at running the floor. Plus Meyers on the trail 3s.

I would be seriously remiss if I didn't say Trail Blazers GM Neil Olshey is more than capable of pulling rabbits even if LaMarcus leaves.
