I keep hearing SA would like to S&T Splitter to us for Aldridge, but why would we do that? We don't need another center unless Portland thinks they can get Love or think Monroe can play PF....which he can't

I don't get that either.

We'd be in a semi-rebuild - Splitter is nearing 31.

F that, no way would I help them out for just Splitter in return, screwem

I have mixed thoughts on that. I would not do it for the simple reason of not wanting to help SA out . But I do think Splitter and his salary would fit well into the platoon system we need at center. He is a tough defensive minded center with championship experience. Again I would not help SA get LMA, but he would fit well with almost any team as part of a center by committee.

I wouldn't for the simple fact that we'd help SA land Aldridge and we get nothing that helps us in the future when we make our run again.

Huge, HUGE talent downgrade.

This article explains just how hard it would be for the Spurs to have enough space to max Aldridge. A lot of players would most likely not be back. If they do choose to get Aldridge, they would have to do a small rebuild that would have core pieces of Leonard, Aldridge and Parker. It would be pointless to really bring Duncan back because they really wouldn't contend the first year Aldridge is in town.

And Parker is 33. How long will be at the top of is game? He already has slipped quite a bit.

I don't think he's even close to the top of his game anymore. He's lost a ton of speed and actually has become a liability on the defensive end now. I know crazy right?!?!

Let's hope the Spurs think they can pull that shit and offend Aldridge. I consider them our only threat.
Unfortunately, Spurs management has proven themselves to be much smarter than Spurs fans.

I see why Spurs are begging us to offload Splitter's contract. They want to still be able to sign Danny Green. Fuck them! If they want Aldridge, they have to pay!
Luckily the 76ers have like 5 Centers. Otherwise I would be worried that the Spurs could give them 4 second round picks to take Splitter.

I'd try to extort picks out of SAS with Splitter. Because it can go the easy way or the hard way. If LMA wants to go to SAS, either we get goodies from SAS or they'll trade a 1st to a way-under-the-cap team and we'll get nothing.

Edit: They still might just dump some salary on someone else on general principle.

If LMA says he is gone and will only go to the Spurs then I would take Green (and preferably Patty) plus picks from them but still wouldn't take Splitter. Not sure if that works with them and the cap though.

It would actually work because patty is a 6.7 mil player, green has a cap hold of 10 mil. They would have 7 mil in cap space if they renounce everyone else.

A more likely scenario is LMA saying he is gone and will go to the Lakers if he can't go to the Spurs. Then taking Splitter will look a little better to us.
Green is a free agent. He has to want to come here.

I know I maybe in the minority here but I would rather have the cap space then to take Splitter. That is unless it came with at least 2 1sts and 1 second.

I think the Lakers would much rather have Jordan than Aldridge because they have Randal, unless there is actually teeth to the Randal, Lin and cap space nightmare to get Boogie.

I will say this... If the Lakers can keep Russell, get Boogie and Aldridge, I will not watch the NBA ever again!

Lamarcus has one shot in his career to be wined and dined by the rich and famous owners in the NBA...after he gets his ass kissed by Cuban and Morey, etc..he'll be sipping cognac on Paul Allen's yacht and laughing his way into the record books in Portland. I think LA knows a good thing when he sees one.

I hope you're right man. It's not looking good about an LMA return.

Splitter + Kyle Anderson, and we swap Splitter for a small forward (maybe Gallinari or a re-signed Jae Crowder, or (pipe dream) a re-signed DeMarre Carroll)

New York Knicks brass will head to Los Angeles this week to meet withLaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan, according to league sources.

The Knicks' contingent is believed to include president Phil Jackson, GM Steve Mills and head coach Derek Fisher.

With Wednesday being the first day teams are able to meet with free agents, both meetings are expected to be completed before Friday.

While the Knicks are considered long shots to land either Aldridge or Jordan, sources said they are in each player's top four.

Aldridge, who sources say is all but certain to leave Portland, will also meet with the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Jordan will also meet with the Mavs, Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, according to sources.

Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has already called both players, as well as Greg Monroe and Arron Afflalo, sources said. The Knicks will also meet with Monroe this week and eventually will meet with Wesley Matthews.

New York's pitch to Jordan will be that he would be the team's second option behind Anthony, as opposed to the third option he currently is with the Clippers behind Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Sources say that is an important distinction to Jordan.

The Knicks will also emphasize that in the Eastern Conference, the road to becoming an All-Star and a playoff team is much less clogged than in the West.

NY? Lmao good one. He and Melo make a horrific combo so not sure whey they're even trying.
LAL? Again, they have Russell as the one piece on the roster, and if they sign him, they have like no more capspace to get a game changer (THIS YEAR). Considering his age, I doubt Aldridge would want to go there and suck for a year before they go after KD et al next summer.
DAL? Again, that team is gutted if he signs there. He and Dirk won't do shit in the west.

Spurs are the only real threat.
