I missed the boat on this. I had no idea LA didn't know he was going to be a free agent on July 1. I assumed he was aware and figured he'd been planning since the season ended (if not before). My bad.
 
How is it more special to win with the Suns? He also said the Suns expect to know by tomorrow night if they made the top 3... Looks like we're going for the next few days.


 
Pretty much the Lakers meeting probably went like this:

1. Kupchak probably made some small talk, greetings. And said "I think you'll be pleased with what comes next"

2. Little video montage of past championships, then shots of the beach, hollywood, etc. Stupid LA and California Cliches. Now random celebrities pop in and give little "we'll love you in LA, LA" soundbites. At this point, Aldridge is like "WTF is this shit".

3. Mitch, now with a shit eating grin, introduces Byron Scott, who stutters a few sentences together while frowning his eybrows at LaMarcus.

4. The AEG guys give their blah blah endorsement, limelight, blah blah bullshit speech

5. Kobe and him talk for 3 minutes. Kobe basically says LMA's job is to make Kobe look awesome.

6. More cheap salestalk and more LA cliches.

7. They then reveal the LaMarcus Aldridge jersey that Adam Levine was wearing earlier that day.

GOTTA GET THE WHOLE PICTURE. How many interviews do you think you have to go in before you get hired for even a shitty ass job. Well, Aldridge is the one doing the interview. Gotta get the right feel for things.

And if they really sold him on "more special to win there" then whoever did the selling is a fucking brainwash artist.

I understand (as much as one can in my shoes v. his). But let's not be so dramatic. I mean, for fucks sake, he's getting life-changing dollars either way, he can make way more by staying with PDX, etc. He's a grown-ass man being paid top dollar to play basketball. He knew free agency was coming. It ain't no surprise. He said he was staying, though it appears he may not. It's not like where he plays will hinder his living situation that much (he does have a place in LA alread). In today's world, you can live wherever in spite of where you work assuming you make the money. I have a hard time having pity for dudes that put the "lifestyle" thing out there.

I don't really care to get worked up about it, but for those that do, I don't blame 'em.

So one meeting is enough to decide one's future? Everything is fluid? Pick up and go. Stay with PDX. Done and done?
 
That leverage is why if I were Olshey, I wouldn't deal him to accomodate him. Make him take that $27 million dollar hit. Oh no, we lose out on suck-ass phoenix prospects, big fucking deal.

For LA's reasons... After everything he said.... I'm surprised he's doing the tour. I mean, you're playing basketball for a living. You know what the teams have to offer. It's a job. When I've switched jobs, I knew what I was looking for long before the interview. I did my homework. And I usually didn't have any advance warning I'd be look elsewhere.
