Actor Bud Cort passed today at 78. Famous for the leading role in Harold and Maude. Makes me think of Cat Stevens music whenever I'd see him. RIP

RIP Robert Duvall at 95.
I got to spend a Saturday night with my date at the time out with him and his wife around 1984 in Los Angeles at a Latin club with a big Salsa band..he was the nicest dude you could ever meet! R.I.P. His wife was a world champion tango dancer. Beautiful woman. Meeting him I hadn't realized how tall he was. Had to be 6'2 or 6'3.

His bio lists him as 5' 10". Maybe he was wearing cowboy boots with big heels?

I'm 5'11 and he was much taller than me. Maybe at 95 he's shrunken but in when I met him he had great posture...very well could have been boots.

Actor Tom Noonan passed today at 74. R.I.P. He was terrific in The Pledge with Jack Nicholson.

R.I.P. to one of the cofounders of Salsa music from the New York Puerto Rican culture Willie Colon passed at 75...his album Crime Pays is a Salsa classic. He was a master trombonist and arranger who being from New York didn't even speak a word of Spanish when he first started playing Salsa. He is often credited with discovering Hector Lavoe the Cuban Salsa maestro singer. They recorded many of the classics in the genre. I listened to Willie's music constantly while learning to play Salsa bass in our 13 piece Salsa Band in 83...great time of my life. Without these guys we'd never have gotten Bueno Vista Social Club recordings. They paved the way.

RIP to my birthday brother Eric Dane
RIP. I wasn't too familiar with him or his work but I watched the Netflix interview with him with my wife, who's a big fan. Pretty powerful stuff and something I recommend to anyone who's dealing with loss or any type of terminal diagnosis.

My wife is a big fan of his from Greys Anatomy. ALS is a terrible disease. He handled it with grace and dignity.

RIP to Bobby.

When my mom was in her late teens early 20s she dated a race car driver, and Bobby Carradine would come chill with all of them when he was in town. So my mom and him knew each other and spent what sounds like some wild times together back then.

We were just looking through some old photo albums back around Christmas time and he was in a few of the pictures.

I’m sorry for him that he was mentally struggling so much. It’s sad… May it be that his soul is at peace now.

Wss going to post about two music influences, including Neil Sedaka.
Also Josh Robison. For forty years husband and collaborator of Michael Tillson Thomas, music director and chief conductor of San Francisco Symphony. They met in a children's orchestra. Went their separate ways but later met again. Robison did all the behind the scenes management for the Symphony.

Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee and 1500 others turned out to honor memory of 104 year old Betty Reid Soskin. She was a Rosie the Riveter in World War II. A singer, songwriter, and civil rights activist. She became a National Park ranger at age 85 and held the job until she turned 100. When she was 95, an intruder broke into her apartment. She explained she grabbed his balls and squeezed as hard as she could, "and magically he toppled over in a heap". Recipient of numerous awards and medals, including from President Obama.
