Blows me away how a player could be so out of the loop on this!

Why? He's playing for the team he wants to right now. Having this thing settled sucks for Rudy; he has to go to Dallas.

So he's just ignoring everything? I guess when you are on the other side of the world it's easy to not get caught up in the minute to minute drama! C'mon Max, let's get this deal hammered out!

Cranking along here at the lockout stakeout. Hour No. 8 has begun. Been given no indication of how things are going.

The NBA and NBPA have made significant progress Wednesday night toward reaching a deal, two sources briefed on talks told Y! Sports.

Come on, owners. I need some good news after this horrible day I've been having.

If I had a dime for everytime someone tweeted that things looked promising, or that they reached a new agreement only to hear how the players are refusing to move any lower and Paul Allen is an evil robot sent from the future to destroy Sarah Conner, I'd be a rich man.

If you had a dime for every post in this thread, you'd have $208.30.

In-meeting updates difficult to gage, but person briefed on talks says they are "moving slowly. They're trying to get something done."

If I had a dime for everyone of your whack-ass posts........ I'd have $10!

There've been "no blowups," the source said. Progress is slow, but the effort to reach an agreement is there.

KBergCBS

As far as tangible progress? Another person directly involved wouldn't characterize it that way. Effort and progress are different issues.

One pessimistic GM told me he hears that good progress is being made...still, he's only cautiously optimistic

Woj

No deal was considered imminent, but talks were expected to extend late into the evening. The two sides have been meeting for 7.5 hours.

There is an interesting level of optimism among the NBA executive ranks regarding tonight's talks and how this night will end.

Even some agents who don't necessarily want a deal tonight are of the mind that one will be done. #falsehope?

8 hrs in. Re: progress as reported by Yahoo! et al: 1 high-ranking team exec previously skeptical now optimistic. But heard that before..

This gives me some hope that a deal will get done tonight. Of course we'v heard this optimism before and have no deal to show for that so i'm gonna try and not get excited.

Las Vegas Superstar Challenge hosted by Allen Iverson has been postponed, according to a release.

Allen Iverson's Las Vegas exhibition postponed to Jan. 6-7 pending status of the lockout. Either it will be over, or season gone by then.

Growing optimism in the agent and front-office community that a deal will get done. One person briefed on talks "incredibly optimistic."

This tweet by Tony Allen pretty much sums everything up:
