I say tear apart this whole system and start all over again. The league already has stars coming together in three or four locations to win titles, with this trend only increasing each year.

If NBA gets a system that is at all like the NFL or NHL, it will be a big victory for small and mid market teams.

And while we are starting over, lets talk hard caps, non guarenteed contracts and of course a franchise tag . . . for our beloived GO.

What about the draft next year, same order as this year? Lotto?

Speaking of the draft, this year's underclassmen should be kicking themselves at this point. They may as well have had stayed in college another year; at least that way, their meals and housing would be paid for by the school. As it is now, I'll guess that the top picks like Irving and Williams are at least able to take out a loan, or have their agents pitch in a bit, but the guys further down the ladder might end up working next to Delonte West at Regency Furniture Showrooms for a year or two.

Derick Fisher

We will allow our legal team to really lead the charge... and hopefully at some point assist us a getting a deal done

Hunter said the NBPA was in the process of converting to a trade association and that all players will be represented in a class-action suit against the NBA by attorneys Jeffrey Kessler and David Boies -- who were on opposite sides of the NFL labor dispute, Kessler working for the players, Boies for the league.
"We think that we've got a stellar team," said Hunter, who added that Kessler and Boies may file their suit as early as later Monday and likely "sometime within the next two days."

Fucking Lawyers.

Kessler's been playing Hunter and Fisher on this for a while. Wonder if he's got a job for Billy once Hunter's fired/out of work when the union decerts.

So now not only will they have no income, but they will have to bear $400/hr fees for corporate lawyers.

Seriously, no one seems to have common sense here.

Off to start sending emails to EVERY company I've ever worked for over the past 10 years! Got to pay the bills.......

Good luck, HCP. The players' union should have at least allowed their members a vote on the proposal that was offered to them.

There are over 25 player agents on a conference call now discussing the next steps for the players against the NBA,

I can't believe they would leave it up to team reps to decide. I would love to see how many of the 450 would of rather had that deal or lose the season.

@aldridge_12 I wonder if D Will needs a big man to play with overseas ?! Hmmm

Everybody but Derek Fisher, and Billy Hunter, and their lawyers wanted to know that answer. I imagine they did some random polling of the union, and found that there were deep fractures in it that would be made public in a vote.

Octagon's already engaged w/ several European teams about sending clients Rudy Gay, Stephen Curry and Wesley Matthews overseas, source says.

I have no idea what anti-trust even means. But what I do know is that there really is no money overseas left for American players, and their season are well underway.

can European clubs cut current players (with no penalty or further obligation) and sign NBA guys? what kind of contracts do they generally have over there?

Ask him if he wants to be our resident expert on all this!

Not selling Knicks, Celtics, Lakers, Heat & Bulls tickets in a season is easily $10M in commissions for StubHub.

What recourse is there for a player to say "eff you, Hunter and Kessler--you don't represent me!" Is that the decertify process? And they need 130 signatures to vote on that?

And if, for some reason, K*be can get 226 players together, can they accept the owners' offer on their behalf?
