The Official S2 NBA Lockout Thread!

the propaganda dept hasn't kept the media from ignoring that the owners' original offer was 43, then they brought 47% to the table with the mediator, and when it was 47/53 they were the ones who proposed 50/50 to get the season started on time. (That's when the players walked out)

If that's the case (which could just be negotiating 101), I could see how Jordan, Allen et. al. would be pissed that they've had to go up 9% just to get the players to the table (the players have vowed 52%), and how going higher than 50% is caving.

remember when they added the "^still" to this? Wonder what the new one will be?

"^have to" ... "^or else I'll be broke and homeless in six months."

David Stern is willing to meet with Billy Hunter and may be open to tweaking key system issues, in a last-minute attempt to strike a deal.

Only about an hour and a half late with that news, sheesh

A lot of people are stating that type of thing. Brousard thinks within 36 hours. I hope they are correct. Like the rapist said, they are so close

In addition to Melo, other big names at meeting include Blake Griffin and Jason Terry.

Carmelo just left. No comment before getting in white van.

To be clear: player rep meeting is still going. Carmelo left early.

@johnschuhmann NBPA press conference will be live shortly on NBA TV & streamed here: on.nba.com/prSFgy»

Some 35-40 players expected to attend news conference.

Here we go.

Players willing to come down on BRI if they can get some system issues

Owners willing to give on some system issues to keep 50/50 BRI

Sounds to me like there will in fact be a deal coming soon

43 players at meeting today, 29 of 30 teams represented, Fisher says.

Fisher: "Our orders are clear that the current offer on the table is not acceptable...."

YOU DID NOT JUST FUCKING TYPE DEAL COMING SOON!

daldridgetnt: Derek Fisher: our orders are clear...w/o system changes, no chance at deal before Wednesday deadline...

Fisher says players will not allow union to negotiate from a position of weakness.

Fisher: These guys want to have a voice in how that system is composed.

Fisher: They don't want to be told where they have to work, and under what conditions ...there are things in system not up for discussion...

Billy Hunter: Apparent to players that spin NBA has put on offer is not quite accurate..players are of mind it's an unaccetpable proposal..

Hunter: We've compromised on the economics. But that compromise is predicated on the ability to get the things we need to get in the system.

Hunter: "I'm really heartened by the fact that these guys came ... everybody was fully engaged. ... We walked out of the room together."

Hunter: "We know that their are a group of teams that are dug in; we're aware of who the hardliners are."

"Players are still of the mindset they will not accept a bad deal. That's the message we have to send to the other side," -- Hunter.

Hunter: "Let's not blow up the season. Let's not lose any more games."

Hunter: We're prepared to negotiate objectively and fairly but we expect the same thing from our adversary.

Hunter: will reach out to Stern sometime tonight to see if they want to continue negotiations...
