It scares me that a contract that is so black and white can be so misunderstood!

Heard That!

16. Revenue Sharing
• The NBA will commit to maintaining during each year of the CBA the
revenue sharing plan that the NBA has described to the Players
Association.

Okaaay, kinda important little detail to describe in the proposal don't you think?

Sources close to decert group told #ESPN that, armed w/well over 130 needed signatures, they'll let meeting breathe and plot next move TUES

Do they not realize that the risk of voiding 400+ contracts is much greater than any reward they could possibly get?

Their lawyer must be George.

My question to agents opposing NBA's offer. How is it in the best interest of your current clients to reject the NBA's deal when

1. Your clients all lose money they'll never get back by missing games 2. The league's offer is about to get worse (no, it's not a bluff)

3. The changes of winning an anti-trust suit via decertification against the league is slim and finally ...

4. The union has already given away $3 billion … the remaining issues only impact a very small # of players. Losing season affects everyone

I agree league's offer is one-sided & even unfair. But what's your best alternative to this deal? I don't see one

It's quotes like this that crack me up. NBA players have had it so good, for so long that they are really out of touch. The NBA players will still be the highest paid athletes in the world, yet they still want more. They just don't seem to give a fuck about the league, it's fans or frankly anyone but themselves. Everyone keeps talking about how much the players are giving up, but no one seems to mention the 100's of millions of dollars the owners have given up over the years. All the owners are asking for is a system where they can have a chance to be profitable

You are so gullible. Hey man, can I have a dollar? I'm losing money--believe me!! I won't waste your dollar and keep losing money, man!

Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale once negotiated their contracts together as a package. They were subject to contracts existing and contract law. At the time, all contracts had a Reserve Clause that prevented free agency at all.

It was weird, a year after I attended a Koufax game. The dual holdout was way over anything that happened with LeBron and the Heat.

So if the players only care about themselves and not about the future of the league/players they best jump on this. Short term is all they should think about because they only will be playing short term. Then again some players might care about future players. And we've heard it's going to get worse before, right? They might lose a season, but I doubt the owners want that. But if that is what it takes to make it a fair deal and players don't only care about this season, they might be willing to sacrifice this season to try and get a fair deal.

I for one hope that doesn't happen and I don't know what I would do in their place, I probably would say show me the money, but I hope I would not just care about the cash.

Don't get me wrong, I sure hope they reach a agreement, but some of the arguments seem pretty short sighted and greedy.

Kobe was one if first players to support 50-50 split; just a hunch, but good chance he may push players to accept deal & he's got clout.

KOBE FTW!

Michael, how does it affect future NBA players in a negative way? Did I miss something? Aren't they still all going to be paid in the top 1% of the American population for playing a game? Are they not going to still have chartered jets? 5* hotel accommodations? First class medical teams at their fingertips? Are they still not going to be able to live the bling lifestyle they all seem to crave?

The problem here isn't that the owners are asking for too much in this negotiation. The problem is that they gave way too much in previous negotiations.

I am in sales of sorts, and our company messed up our comp plan and really overpaid everyone a couple of years ago. The following year they adjusted that comp plan and we all made less. That is basically what the owners are doing now. I am still extremely well compensated, but instead of a 3000 SF beach house in Hawaii, I can only get a 2500 SF one now. Boo hoo

You should really take a shower and clean off after that comment

Oh? Did they lose money over the course of the last CBA? They never say. They lost money LAST YEAR (or so they say) but isn't that like you "losing money" in your comp example? And we're in a bad economy. The owners want to set the terms of the new CBA according to the worst economy so that they make out like bandits on the assumption it improves.

Drug dealer!

haha. The owners have opened their books to the players. Billy Hunter himself as stated on numerous occasions that there are 12 teams that are losing money. What the union wants is for the owners to deal with it themselves and not take any responsibility for their league that has made them all millionaires.

Drug dealer!

As the economy improves, the BRI will go up, and the players will make more. 50/50 is still the highest of any sports league.

Drug dealer sure would have saved a lot on college tuition, that's for sure

If you aren't doing it already, EVERYONE should be following Larry Coon on Twitter. As the foremost expert on all things CBA, he has broken it down better than anyone.

I agree. It's not as bad as they make it out to be. It's a huge win for small/mid-markets, though!

Are you seeing this shit? They are saying NBPA would NOT give player reps copy of league offer last week!!!

Stein

At last meeting last week, player reps given Powerpoint presentation on deal. When some asked for hard copy to share w/teammates ... denied

Meeting over already? 3 hrs.

No possible way they can have voted for this, right?

Union meeting could be over, officlals trickling out.

Well the long ass meetings have all ended badly, maybe what we needed was a short one!

Oregon is 7-0 vs. AP top 25 teams at Auzen Stadium since Chip Kelly became head coach

Woj tweets the meeting is over 31 minutes ago......... nothing since! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

Woj

Meeting was on break and they've gone back in again, source says.

The players don't have much choice, they gotta take it. They hold the keys to make all the money anyway, simply put on a good show.
