The OFFICIAL Stampede vs Vipers Game Thread 1/3/14....... (1 Viewer)

Liked what I've seen from CJ, seems like he could be a solid contributor, all around offensive player. Always liked his in-between game, doesn't have Lillard's long range shooting but seems pretty good at going past his defender than scoring from mid-range jumpers or floaters closer to the basket. Seems like a very smart player, u could see he's not used to playing with these guys also feeling a bit awkward being more highly-regarded than they are, sometimes trying to force the issue a bit, but when he relaxed to playing a more team-oriented role he was able to make some nice things, dishing a few assists and creating for himself and others.
Also, I must comment on Pierre Jackson, NoVoodoo praised him before the draft saying he would be a steal in the 2nd round, I think he definitely deserves a chance in the NBA, he's tiny but has surprising ability at the rim and great 3-point shot. He is a very small off guard but has offensive instincts you can't teach.

Blazer Fanatic is tough and attacks like a man, yet is not a manhater. She's so tough that you don't dare flirt. She is the only kind of woman who will survive on this board. As we saw a few months ago, the fawning type can't survive here. BF earns her pay. I'm sure she dislikes my critiquing players, but it's more important to me to have a woman on board.

So treat her like a man and let the fights begin. I like her presence.
I was thinking something like this also jlprk. Just reading this thread today makes me think that the guys are really enjoying having her on our forum; and it's a relief that she is tough enough to survive here; that we don't have to worry about driving her off. (and yes there have been several over the years that more or less didn't feel comfortable here)

After reading this thread I have another poster I can't fucking stand.

SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU (edited name)

This doesnt show his assists but he dished well in the flow of the half court offense, when breaking down his defender one on one and in the transition game. He had a few great passes that his teammates missed a bunny on as well. Seems to have a decent nose for the ball as a guard when rebounding as well. Im not at all worried about the 3 pointers that he missed. Most were on line and just rimmed out. He will be fine there. Tonight's game (1-4) will be interesting to see how he reacts on a back to back.

I got to meet him after the game, real nice guy. Let us take a picture with him and everything. He is pretty short but damn he can ball. Kind of a mix of a poor mans Nate Robinson and Isiah Thomas.

I see both of those comparisons.

Another poster?!? I don't want to share your hatred with another poster. We had something special going and now you want to go hate someone else. This hurts. Hurts bad.

FYI y'all, B.F. and crandc are not the only female posters on this board. It isn't necessary to draw attention to one's gender, or race, to "survive" on a message board. I've seen nothing but respect for other female posters without the need for them to be aggressive to get "respect". The one notable exception being the chick that I didn't believe was a chick who tried to use her looks and persona to get attention from the get-go. I resent the implication that an earnest female poster can't get respect here unless she is combative. That is simply not the case.

First, I wish CJ the best - but it is tough to have a successful NBA career with chronic foot problems.

Second, Mo is currently our best bench player. That should scare the shite out of Blazer fans.

I know this is now off topic for this thread but as someone who was at the game CJ clearly has a lot of talent. And for some one who is playing his first game back and clearly looked gased at times I thought he played well. Had he played a full game he would have flirted with a triple double. I am very encouraged that he will fit in well with the Blazers.

Did you get a decent close up look at his cardio? Was harder to see on the stream, but he looked like he was breathing fairly hard in spots.

Yes, he was huffing and puffing a little bit. Not too bad, mostly just after fast breaks. I wouldve guessed that he would have been a little further behind than he actually was.

Plays kinda like Mo Williams doesn't he?

He's being featured (playing extra 1-on-1) as he was in Summer League, since they want to develop him faster than the others. He's kind of a short Zach in that he's bulky and awkward until he gets into shape. He'll be a starter in a couple of years, but I just disagree with his fanboys who say he'll steal Mo's job this season. That'd be another Lillard, which he isn't.

Certainties we learned of:

Nate will complain about Mo Williams. If someone disagrees with Nate, the entire thread becomes about Mo Williams.

HCP's game threads lead to losses, even in the D League.

Eh, they had stopped playing CJ at that point. The game was over. What else were we going to talk about?

Good to hear. Thanks for sharing your takeaways!

Gametime tonight (Saturday) is 7 pm. You're not going to watch the silly old Blazer game, are you? HCP, you took responsibility for starting all D-League game threads.

No countdown clock tonight! That's the best part of the game! It would now say 2:10 till 7 pm. I need my countdown clock. Gotta have it.

One or two years ago we had this quandary. A couple of Blazers were playing in Boise while the Blazers got blown out. I complained that I had missed a good close Stampede game and had chosen the boring game.

The countdown clock is back and proved its worth! It says 40 minutes, not 1:40. So I checked and I had gotten the gametime wrong. It starts at 6 pm PT, not 7 pm as I had posted. The clock saved my ass! I almost missed half of the big game of the night.

So you who have chosen the wrong game can see half of the right game.
