My oldest grandson drop out, well I guess I should say he did not begin school this past fall. After the riots in Charlotte where his apartment was throughly trashed, he left town with a fuck it view.
I knew he had no idea what he wanted to become, that is, a reason to go to school, so it did not bother me that he chose not to.

I talked with him quite a bit since then about the importance of finding your character type, aptitude, and strong points. He was some what skeptical since the liberal view he has been counseled with
tend to down play these things, and stress anyone can become whatever they wish though education. Utter nonsense in my view. The US Navy has been testing and typing people for about 200
years and they have become very good at it.

So I managed to cajole him into seeing a Navy recruiter, not to enlist but to take there battery of tests. I told him I would take the ARI test so we could compare. They test GCT (general) ARI (math aptitude), verbal, clerical, and science skills. For the high tech jobs the GCT and ARI are the critical scores.

Well he did it, and pretty much found out he could qualify for anything, and somehow that propelled him to now start this winter to get through BA course and get on with Business Law.
Ha! I had already determined that was his strong suite, but we had to take the long path to play it out.

I didn't do quite as well on the ARI test has I had done way way back when I had just turned 17. Scored 2 less than than I did before which was one less than perfect. No one has ever scored perfect. Only two less some 60 years later! Not bad.

Improving education is good, but since he chose DeVos, who has already proven a failure at education reform, as Sec. Ed., I don't think he means it.

Converting poverty assistance to business loans is pretty silly. Now, instead of feeding your kids, you can start a small business!

Tax breaks for businesses locating in the inner city is a fine idea, and was implemented long ago. Nothing new there.

More cops? I guess if the inner city youth are hired as cops, that would add some jobs.

Tear down the inner cities - yes, that's one way to get rid of the problem. What do you do with the people, though?

But there are some things he could do here that would improve the situation, and who knows, maybe he will. It's hard to know at this point what, if anything, he's serious about.

barfo

How can you be so wrong?

It's not in crayon, I suppose.

You make a good, well reasoned argument. I'm convinced.

barfo

How about... the way your kind did things made this mess.

Time to try something different that has the goal of making things better.

If you're against it, it must be great.

Cool. Did the Navy ask you to re-enlist?

The way I see it, either way I win.

If Trump somehow Makes America Great Again, then by definition we all win.

If he fails, I get to laugh at you for worshipping a ridiculous con man.

Either way, let's get on with it. I eagerly await Jan 20. Time to try something different!

Your candidate lost. How come she didn't win by 50 points!

Ha, in only 500 more years you'll be so dumb your wife has to hand feed you.

So now Trump's moniker for Chuck Schumer is "head clown"

Trump seems to only have one playbook. Low energy Jeb. Lyin Ted. Crooked Hillary. Now, Head Clown Schumer.

Yep, she lost. That was two months ago. I'm over it. Maybe someday you will be too.

I don't need to get over it, I want to savor every minute of her pain.

Sorry you're so offended.. ;)

Not offended. Just thought that Trump would act more like a president after he was elected. A broken record only gets you so far. It will become less effective, if it is even effective at all.

Interesting take. I pass no judgement on it's "truth". Of course, some folks are going to call bullshit if it doesn't fit their narrative........

Ha! this fellow misses the point almost entirely.
"Trump. In fact, Trump won over 70% of the two-party vote among whites without a college
degree, which easily exceeded the performance of any Republican going back to at least 1980. "

Trump failed to win a majority of those that did not complete high school. Not all that many whites in that group
but when he fixes the educations system with school vouchers so that many more complete high school, Wow!
Where will the democrats find a majority then?

I read that 1 in 28 college professors is a conservative today. That is 96.5% liberals teaching these College educated young people.
Are they actually being served? Or used, when you consider the very high cost? How long can this continue?

Ha! Well he did coin the phrase, "Make America Sick Again" It does sound like something from Red Skelton.

Now there is an allusion that those punks born in 1960 or later won't get...

Like I said, some folks are going to call bullshit if it doesn't fit their narrative. Personally, if I don't see it with my own eyes or hear it with my own ears, I believe very little of what someone else tries to tell me. Everyone has their own agenda.....

Ha! Do think I need to point out that Red was know as a Clown? Rather than a comedian.
