I've decided that they will honor me by winning 36.
19-25 now. Need to go 17-21 the rest of the way to make me right. They'll probably need to win 6 of 7 on this homestand in order to make that a realistic possibility. I have them winning just 3 of their next 15 after that.

I had 33. I think they win 32 to 34 looking at the schedule now so I think I will be pretty dang close.

I had 37, right now (19-25)... we're on pace for ~35 (which I've said before is probably most likely); I'm STILL sticking w/ 37 :hcp:bc I believe our guys can do it!:smiley-yippee:

I think we're going to do what the Jazz did last year with a young roster...win more games in the second half than the first...sticking with 43 but originally I thought that would put us at 10-11 seed in the west...now, it'll get you in the playoffs in the west.

Right here, right now, how many games do your Portland Trailblazers win this season. No need to explain why, just give us your total.

23

2 wins, 33 losses the rest of the way and you're spot on.

I think when the Blazers win their 24th game, HCP should have to change his sig to read, "Sent from a sorry-ass fan.........FAMS", for the rest of the season.

"I came to drop knowledge, but dropped something else."

I said 35, which would mean going 14-21 the rest of the way after last night's win over the Kings. Given how tough the schedule is after the All-Star break, that could still turn out right, but I'm hoping for closer to 40 wins. I think the last 4 games before the break will tell a lot about this team's chances going forward. Toronto (H), Houston (A), Memphis (A), and Houston (H) are all against playoff teams. If the Blazers can't win at least two of those, they're not likely to make the playoffs, IMO.

35 would be within 3 wins of the 32 that I predicted, so I don't think that would be at all unreasonable.

It's crazy, we can legitimately lose the next five games.

The interesting thing to me about these win prediction threads is that the pessimists are always much more confident than the optimists*, and the pessimists have been mostly wrong dating back to, probably, that 21 win season.

After you filter out the idiots on both ends, the stubborn confidence of pessimists and tendency toward accuracy of optimists is a trend I see in all sorts of aspects of my life. In the face of uncertainty, fear is always more convincing than hope. But it shouldn't be.

(*Excluding Speed, of course, whose wild optimism is kind of an outlier.)

I think my prediction was somewhere between pessimism and optimism. I think we'll still be pretty close to the 32 wins that I predicted. Probably a little more like 35ish.

I think mook has an interesting theory. In past years, I've always added a few "optimism" wins to my predictions, and I've been close year after year. This year I struggled between my pessimist/realist guess of 32 and my optimist guess of 36.

We'll see.

Ha, mine were similar!
My pessimistic/realistic prediction was 33.
My optimistic/realistic prediction was 35.
My hope was that I was underselling it.

Honestly, the growth I've seen from the players is better than a regular season win total.

The team is currently 24-26, or 48.0%
If they continue at this win rate, they'd finish with about .480*82 = 39.4 wins....
Well ahead of my predictions - which I'm definitely OK with.

Note: we're on a 5-game win streak, and things are always going to look better at the end of a win streak (are we at the end?).

Politics 101.

But I digress.

Yeah, I definitely see it in politics. I just have to look at my more extremist friends on Facebook. Whether conservative or liberal, they seem absolutely certain how doomed we all are.

Yeah, I'm hoping that this team just continues to improve as the year goes along. We've got the third youngest roster in the league, and that's with the Caveman aging up the bench. As they gain experience they should do better.

Incidentally--if you click on that link look at the other teams with average ages around 24. Philly, Utah, Milwaukie, Orlando....seems like the light at the end of the tunnel is a lot closer for us. Think Monroe regrets his free agency decision last summer?
