That sucks. I hope we get Juju Watkins.Sucks that this might end up in a strike/lockout situation during our inaugural season.
Wait what gas station manager makes 250K a year? I have a hard time believing that.Min WNBA contract last year was $66k. Max contract was $249k. Managers at buc ee's gas station here in Texas earn more.
I side with the players. No reason they should get less than the 50% of revenue like the men get. No that doesn't mean they'll earn as much dollars as NBA. Only that they earn a similar percentage.
That's still plenty of increased revenue for the owners with the $2.2 billion TV contract.
If teams still will have losses it's because they're managed poorly.
I agree they should get a raise but the league needs to start making money.
And I don’t think profit has been turned yet either. Can't lose money for a decade and then scream fairness the second a profit is turned.
CC me when you get a reply regarding the $250k/yr gas station manager.Wait what gas station manager makes 250K a year? I have a hard time believing that.

Now one point though. That gas station is probably making a bunch of money every day.

So I had some free time and for some reason wanted to know for myself. Best I could do is $200k/yr. So ya, they are wrong. Job starts spring 2026Yeah not thinking I’m gonna get a response but I’ll keep ya in the loop.
Agreed. And if the WNBA doesn't go for it, just start the league and move on.If I'm WNBA players I get three super wealthy former NBA players and a couple investment bankers to put a proposal out to start a new league. It's not like the NBA where the dollars are insane - could legit bankrole that proposal pretty easily with just a handful of investors. Or get the Saudi royal fund to back it or such.
They do that and the WNBA owners will easily cave to the 50% revenue split.
From what I've read, I believe they are profitable (even with the WNBA's creative calculations) if you include the new media rights deal. The NBA would need to take a much smaller cut to get the players to 50% of basketball related revenue. And I don’t think profit has been turned yet either.

If they aren't willing to do that I am fully on board with the players starting their own league. Get some billionaires to help start it up and hire some elite executives to make it as profitable as possible while still paying the players 50% of basketball related revenue. This league would get all of the best talent.
Then if the NBA still wants a piece of the action it can buy the league out (as long as the players approve the sale).
Once you start setting this in motion I expect the WNBA and NBA will be far more motivated. I think the players would even happily accept a path to 50% of basketball related revenue within 5 years.
When did I say they don't deserve ROI? I said they would need to take a smaller cut. They'd still be getting ROI, just not the 40-60% of revenue they're getting now.The NBA invested millions to get to this stage. You don't think it deserves some ROI?

That was exactly my first thought. The NBA would tie it up in court so fast their heads would spin. The NBA invested millions to get to this stage. You don't think it deserves some ROI?
You can't stop them from working if they don't have a contract. That was exactly my first thought. The NBA would tie it up in court so fast their heads would spin.
Way too much invested to allow them to just walk. Even more so that now they actually are starting to get a few players that actually draw some attention. Seriously I have never even been able to name a player until this last year. Now I can name at least 3. Maybe 4.
