I'm still fumbling my way through how things work on this site but......but I really think the DMC fantasy has run its course and I'm not a True Detective fan and it is dull, boring August, so......is it perhaps time to look at changing the name of our team to the Oregon Trailblazers? Yes, it's radical, especially after 45 years, but I'm just feeling like it would be a lot more representative of our great fan base (and the "Trailblazer" moniker) Judging by this site alone, we come from every corner of the state (and elsewhere). The Jazz are in Salt Lake City and the Pacers are in Indianapolis but those teams choose to represent their states, rather than the particular cities they call home. Charlotte reclaimed the name "Hornets" and cashed in monetarily on that change. Of course there are the costs and hassles of swapping "Oregon" for "Portland", but there are also some serious marketing opportunities, as Charlotte discovered. Isn't it about time we made it clear to the rest of the league that the Trailblazers represent the entire state and not just a(n admittedly large) pocket of said state? Just throwin' a turd in the punch bowl to see if it floats.......

no, because there's a bunch of diehard fans up in here in Vancouver. They wouldn't get represented. You can't represent everyone so why change it.

No. I live in Portland and I'm proud of it, the suburbs can't take this away. The 5th district can't take it away either.

SLC is in Utah. Indianapolis is in Indiana. Charlotte is in North Carolina.... Those teams are representing cities... :dunno:

You know, "Oregon Trail Blazers" would just be too restrictive. What about the Blazer fans in Washington, or Idaho? Maybe the Pacific Northwest Trail Blazers would be a more inclusive option.

Then again, there are Blazer fans across the country. Perhaps we should just make it the United States Trail Blazers of Portland (you know, like the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) to ensure that all fans nationwide are properly represented.

you're forgetting the fans across the globe.

The Planet Earth Trail Blazers of Portland.

When the Blazers are going thru a down year we should call them the Oregon Trail Blazers but when they are in the playoffs or win the championship we should call them the Portland Trail Blazers.

WHY NOT THE GREAT NORTHWEST TRAILBLAZERS?

With no teams in the Pacific NW or Vancouver, this would be more inclusive, wouldn't it?

I've got it. The Milky Way Trail Blazers.

+> Instead of the Boston Patriots their name change to New England represented a geographic region. Hell, Even Rhode Island citizens were all in. How about the North West Blazers?

I thought, that during the Drexler era, there was talk of changing their name to the Oregon Trailblazers. It has an ok ring, but I'd stick with Portland. Oregon is not a united State, Portland is and rural Oregon is a very different culture.

How about the Cascadia Subduction Zone TrailBlazers?

Just make it like the Japanese baseball league and have the corporation that owns the team in the name, like this

The Vulcan Blazers

I don't like the way "The Oregon Trailblazers" sounds.

Portland has a culture? Dang, and urban growth boundary too!
