I thought Bin Laden and his terror was not about islam.

I have no idea where you got that idea from. He always claimed that Afganistan was the only Islamic country in the world and Al-Qaeda is decribed as "an organized Islamic faction, its goal is to lift the word of God, to make His religion victorious."

Both administrations took great pains to try and distinguish OBL and AQ from Islam is what he means.

Dealing with the corpse the way they did is probably an effort to quell retaliation for any perceived affronts to Islam regarding the handling of the body.

I'm talking about people who say the terrorists do not represent Islam. If they do not, then why be so fastidious to bury the most villainous terrorist criminal of the past 50+ years to respect his islamic heritage. This is war, son. Wouldn't the US want to know about his physical disposition? His kidney ailments, etc? There was a rush it seems to get rid of the body and get rid of all "evidence" using the veil of "Islamic tradition" as an excuse.

Well, the photo is an obvious fake, so what else are we not being told?

Government never confirmed that was a real photo.

So it's only ok to question stuff like this and make up conspiracies when there is a Democratic president, but when it's a Republican, anything like this is appalling. Got it. More hypocrisy in political discussions.

You don't find anything strange that after years and years of hunting for Bin Laden that this was all conveniently wrapped up in hours and they dumped the body and blazed the house before any secondary confirmation? No autopsy, no one else knew about the operation besides 2 dozen special ops forces. There was only 3 hostiles killed along with the leader of the largest terrorist organization in the world? Were there others arrested there too?

But go ahead and just ignore it all and believe the company line. :MARIS61:

Despite the heinous acts committed during his life, the killing of another human being being celebrated with such jubilance leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Nod and move on with dignity. Did nobody else get an odd feeling when you saw crowds of people chanting 'USA, USA' outside of the White House? Celebrating his death with patriotic chants is a little off key, if you ask me.

Couldn't this also be breaching Pakistan's privacy? Intruding on their borders to capture the most wanted man on the planet even if they were harboring him within their country.

It may not represent Islam but there must be thousands, if not millions who would want to respect his beliefs no matter what damage the man caused.

War? This is nothing close to a war no matter what the tabloids say.

Who cares about respecting his beliefs. This was a US military action, not a police and fire rescue. Do they lose the ability for intelligence just to respect islamic tradition? Do they do this for every Al Queda death? Even those high value targets, do they do this?

I agree it was stupid to have americans celebrating in the street singing "hey hey heeeeyyy...goood bye".

Yeah, and I remember the same bit of questioning by some when we captured Saddam. A man who had many doubles and look alikes, and tons of palaces and guards, and we catch him in a hole in the ground and hang him. I thought questioning that one was dumb as well, but when people did, seemed like many on the right were outraged that anyone would suggest a conspiracy. But now, here you go with conspiracies. Hypocrisy. It's pretty amusing.

Lindsey Graham questioning why the body was disposed of so quickly.

I'm sure the WH will release some real evidence at some point today.

Really? We held Saddam for a long time, he was put on trial and it was a detailed trial and execution live broadcast to the world?

so if it was a fake and all this was about oil... will prices go down then?

Why was the compound burned to the ground? If OBL lived there for 5 years, you'd think that there would be quite a bit of intel to be found in it.

Agreed.

Yeah, but so what?

It was an "accident".

The US handed Saddam over to the Iraqi government, who tried him under Iraqi law, and sentenced him to death. If you're going to play the victim game, at least get the basic facts correct.

I'm not playing a victim game. Just noting the hypocrisy. Whatever you guys want. Question everything! Which is fine. but apparently not when a Republican is president. Then it borders on treason.

I'm sure the "WH" will "release" some real "evidence" at some point "today".

Fixed that even more for you.

Your logic doesn't make sense.

Why would they put this operation in the lime light? Why should the US Government disclose all the information (if any)?

It is this sort of attitude that got us in this mess to begin with.

What hypocrisy, though? Unless you think that Saddam really wasn't held in jail by the Iraqi people, tried, convicted, and executed. I think OBL died in a firefight within the past week; I'll take the President at his word on this. That doesn't mean that the reporting hasn't been god-awful, or that there may have been some strange decisions made in the aftermath of OBL's death.

Yeah, they just burnt down the building and left all the important documents inside.

Why shouldn't they? If you're going to have "look at me" press conference at 11:30pm EDT on a Sunday night, then the public is going to want to know all of the information available about OBL's death.

Not saying the US Government needed to disclosed anything. However, it just means there is no confirmation of anything other than evidence that can be easily fabricated and believing the US Government on its own word.

however, there are a lot of things that do not add up here and there are obvious questions.

Yeah, they just burnt down the building and left all the important documents inside.

They were in the building for 40 minutes, and that included the firefight. At least that's the latest story.

When has the government ever released all the information they have on any subject? They wouldn't even be truthful about Obama's breakfast.

Wait wait wait.... 9/11 consiparicy (sp) theories point to a self inflicted disaster by the govt (led at the time by Bush) so to say this is only happening now is disingenious
