@hoopsjock made a phenomenal video detailing all the options the Blazers will have at their disposal this off-season, excluding potential trades. He also details how each option would affect the Blazers payroll. What do you guys think is the best option for the Blazers? What would you try and do if you were Neil Olshey?

*Note - This was recorded before the season was cancelled*

Thank You for sharing Bones. That was awesome Eric. I have no idea with the current state of things. But i do want Trevor back, and i might be in the minority, but i want Melo back too. I want to see what happens with a healthy Nurk, Zach, and maybe even Rodney infused back into this lineup. Draft picks are a roll of the dice so who knows as this time. Hassan is the biggest question to me. I like what he has added , but don't feel he is as complete a player as Nurk is. That being said, if you can't acquire a Tobias Harris in some way, i prefer he gets re signed. Also i would like to bring back Skal as well. He is developing nicely as a quality backup center. That if Whiteside leaves.

HJ, very well done and easy to follow along!
I favor keeping Ariza and sign Hassan to a tradable contract. With Hassan Nurk & Zman that gives us a versatile front line with injury insurance. If the Chemistry isn't there with Whiteside and Nurk then trade one.
At least we would be decent and have good assets for re engineering if needed.

Sounds like the salary cap is going to take a huge hit, which in turn will drop the luxury tax threshold. I think it's going to be chaos whenever the off-season gets going. Seems like teams are going to try to dump big contracts.

If the cap does go down, it's going to be basically impossible for teams to dump salary though. They might have to work out some sort of deal where contracts are prorated to 80% of what they would be or something. It would be tough to get the NBAPA on board with that but they might not have much of a choice.

I've also heard that instituting another amnesty clause might be on the table. They're considering all options.

At this point there may not even be an off-season.

I saw one article that said guys like Dame who are on max contracts tied to a certain percentage of the cap are going to lose money. CJ’s contract is based on a set starting amount so he ends up making closer to what Dame does. Sounds like the whole thing is under discussion as to what to do. The owners are said to have the right to void the CBA if need be, but nobody wants it to come to that.

Yeah, Dame's extension would definitely be effected. CJ would likely become a max player too because if the cap goes down his extension could possibly be worth more than the max which can't happen.

Thank you for the video. This will be an interesting summer for the Blazers. I think they should definitely keep Ariza and resign Ariza to a reasonable deal

I've been so checked out of the blazers I legit forgot we even had Ariza on the team

Trade Mario + 2nd rounder for a future 2nd!

No, I don't think any other team would do this (Come on, Sac!)

Yeah, that's the big question mark this year. I wonder if they might make an adjustment due to the severity and cost of the coronavirus to all teams.

We already have Ariza under contract for next year.
