Rockets took care of the Nuggets last night but the Spurs got a HUGE win @ Cleveland. That is big win for them and probably unexpected.

Updated standings:

#3 - Wolves: 38-26, next @ Blazers
#4 - Spurs: 36-25, next vs Pels
#5 - Blazers: 35-26, next vs Wolves
#6 - Pelicans: 34-26, next @ Spurs
#7 - Thunder: 35-27, next @ Mavs

The Nuggets with 2 losses fell from tied for 5th to 9th. Spurs had a big win at Cavs that was projected to be a Loss. Single games like that could easily make the difference in such a tight race. Portland will need to win all the games they should and win a few they aren't favored in to get HCA. Either that, or rely on teams to lose games they are expected to win. Any games against the bottom 10 teams in the standings are almost automatic wins as those teams seem to be tanking and their only wins are against each other.

MUST win for Portland against the Wolves. Thibs was in the stands last night likely devising how to get the ball out of Dame's hands. Teammates are going to have to step up.

FYI--Pels are only 34-26 right now.

Kinda pulling for both the Pelicans and Thunder to win tonight. Then if the Blazers win tomorrow, all 5 of these teams will be within a game of one another.

Half a game behind #4, 1.5 behind Minny for #3 (I was high on Minny since before the season, FWIW).

We're not going to do better than #3 - I think it's almost mathematically impossible.

4 game winning streak, including one against the 2nd seed Warriors.

Go Blazers!

One good thing about having such a tight race in the west is we can root for the Blazers to finish as high as the 3 seed....but not be too bummed with a 3 game losing streak as we could move up 10 spots in the draft. (Counting the Eastern conference as well) Lot of teams in the 26-29 loss range.

Wow. I haven't seen a race this tight for a few years.

Knew a guy who raced Go-Karts and other crazy shit. And then I had the stupidity to get inside a vehicle with him. Those guys drive 100 like you and I drive 25 mph. To not call them athletes is a fucking insult. And the Formula 1 guys are the craziest of the bunch!

Lot of coin flips at the end of the season.
Interestingly enough, the L*kers are closer to the 3 seed than the 3 seed is to the 2 seed. :wow:

Didn't realize, the Wolves have a BRUTAL stretch of games coming up. If the Blazers can dispatch them tonight, there's a chance they lose several more in the next few weeks.

On a related note--what the hell is up with them playing 3 games total over a 2-week span?

I get that--I'm just saying it's crazy that the schedule-makers had to put a stretch like that into their schedule in order for the evening out to occur.

True. It’s their only saving grace over this period while they’re waiting for Butler to return. At least they’re going to be well rested.

Have you seen our schedule coming up?

Outside of dame this team is trash we don’t have a competent player in the front court hca is out of the question. Playoffs are a maybe at best. We can get beat by anyone on a given night.
