The race for Home Court Advantage (1 Viewer)

Just noticed NOP has to play 5 home games in a span of 6 days (don't remember if I have seen that before). For comparison we also have a 5 game home stand, but it is over 12 days.
yep--that includes a make-up game with Indiana that had to be sandwiched in there to create that 3-in-a-row. Had to double-check that when I was putting the schedule together.

I posted this in some other thread late last night. What do you think? AmI too far off?
As far as my preseason questioning of you guys who thought we would get HCA, I honestly thought OKC would mesh sooner than they did. I can tell you of all the “lower Tier” teams, I am quite sure GS and Houston do NOT want to play them in the first round. I also thought Minny would finish up there and I believe they would had Butler stayed healthy. Spurs are starange man, we all know that. Without there best player they are still hanging. And now with LA out, who knows. It’s all a crapshoot and is going to be a blast watching it work itself out. Definitely going down to the last night of the season. I posted somewhere else that I’m quite sure there will be 50 different scenarios going into the 2nd half of our last game.

That seems generally realistic. However I expect the Blazers to rise to the occasion and beat OKC at home Saturday; then pull out 2 or more of the games they "should" lose, and lose 1 they "should" win. You have them 9-11. I'm going to say 11-9, maybe 12-8 with my homer hat on.

I think you're selling this team short (again). Of course, any team can beat any other team on any given night, but I'm not sure why you have us losing two to OKC and losing at home to CLE.

Neither of those teams are playing well right now. Since Christmas, CLE is 12-16 and POR is 19-10. That game is the 5th game of a 6 game road trip for CLE. Yeah, it only takes an epic LeBron performance and CLE an beat anyone, but as a team, they still are not playing well.

OKC has had a very easy schedule lately with LAL twice, MEM twice, DAL, SAC and ORL all in the last 10 games and are still only 6-4 in those 10 games. They lost twice to the Lakers, barely beat SAC and had to go to OT to beat DAL (who is trying to lose). That OKC game is also the second night of a road back to back for them (they play in PHO tonight) and we are currently 2-0 against them this year.

It's impossible to predict how all these games will go, but your predictions make it look like you think we automatically lose to every .500 team in the league no matter how bad they are playing or where we play them. Given the way we have been playing at home (winning 11 0f 12), the odds makers have us as favorites in most of our upcoming home games. Yep, they need to play the games and take care of business, but to just automatically assume this team roles over and loses to OKC and CLE at home is selling them short.

I seem to recall you also had us losing to GSW ad UTA (in UTA), too.

BNM back to true form.

Of course I had us losing to the best team in basketball and a team on a 12 game winning streak AT the toughest place for us to win over the years. Why wouldn’t I?

You can come at me with all this common sense and facts all you want FAMS...... it won’t change how I feel. I’m set in my way of thinkin’.

Then why have us losing to teams that are playing poorly, when we are playing well. Role reversal is not equal.

And that in a nutshell, is why I cant help but want to fuck with you.

Its like an addiction. My insistence in trying to give you a hard time is only preceded by your stubbornness. It's awesomely funny to me.

So, you're sticking with your prediction of #40wins.

Our schedule is incredibly easy. Only 5 games against teams that have a better record than us. 14-6 seems fair.

This is shaping up to be one of the coolest finishes to a season I can remember. As Blazers fans we are not only watching our team, but the others to see where we are at night's end. It's ridiculous. If Utah beats the Wolves, and that's a real possibility, the Blazers move up to 3rd based on win %. I'm loving it. Go Blazers!!! Beat the Okey Dokes.

I agree. I'm feeling very good. And I'm trying to stay calm. I want the third seed but I don't think we'll fall farther down than 7th and if that's what happens, it is what is. GO BLAZERS

Good way to look at it. But let's be greedy, and get the 3rd. You know the Blazers want that as well.

So freaking close. Depending on wins and losses, a team can drop 3-4 spots in just one game. Don't remember seeing a race this tight in quite some time.

Yep. I'm already worried about how they'll handle a loss. Not to mention how this board will handle a loss. We won't win out and get 56 wins so people have to remember that. I want the OKC game badly and think we'll get it but it's the Lakers game I fear we may lose. We MUST beat the Knicks.

As a fan of the game of basketball, I watch those teams play all year, every year

Damn Straight. One game at a time as the ol' cliché goes. Love to see the Blazers spank the Okey Dokes.

Blazers: 37-26, next @ Lakers
Wolves: 38-28, next vs Celtics
Pelicans: 35-26, next @ Mavs
Spurs: 36-27, next vs Grizzlies
Thunder: 37-28, next vs Rockets

Blazers can't have a let up against the Lakers. LA did the Blazers a favor in beating the Spurs....don't give that game back.

Lakers have been playing well with IT in their lineup. I think he has always hurt the Blazers ... from Boston or Phoenix.

The Blazers are on track to win 48 games.

If the Blazer only go .500 the rest of the way they win 46 or 47 (46.5). Still not bad.

It will probably take 50 wins or more to get the #3. How things have changed. Just a few years ago, 48 wins was the #8 seed. Take advantage!

Speaking of HC advanate, if The Blazers faced the Cavs in the finals, as of tonight.......we would have HC advantage.

You mean "When the Blazers face the Cavs for the finals, the Blazers will have HC advantage"

LeBron will come close but fail at attaining another title.

Dame will win his first and, in the eyes of some, that will immediately put him right at the top of the list of the greatest of all-time Blazers.

Gramps...

I think it’s all gonna come down to that Texas triangle(I think we beat den and Utah before and after it) at the end of the season. I really don’t see us dropping below 5 though.

They've won five in row. Going to be a tough game.
