The Rangers are telling teams that they won’t trade Dan Girardi and will sign him

We agree on the terms and your right we have no control over what actually happens... I just know its an agents job to get the most money for his player as possible and if we give him that I will be very upset.

I see no way we give him 6 mill per. I can see in the 5's...MAYBE even closing in on mid 5's from Sather...but no way can I see Sather going close to 6 mill per for Girardi.

I think he re-signs for 4 years at 5.0 to 5.5 per tops. I think 5.5 is a little too much, maybe 300 K or so per too much, but I can see Sather getting close to that if pushed.

We'll see...

I know Mcdonagh was an RFA when his contract was negotiated, but it would be wonderful if Dan worked with the team to take a similar amount cap hit wise (4.7) but for just 4 years... we can dream right?

Here's the thing mig, I can't get caught up in that. If he takes low 5's awesome he stays here. If he and his agents say "I understand I like playing here in NY but theres an extra million a year out there if your willing to move" then so be it. He will go somewhere else for 6 mill or more per. What can you do.

I can only say what I would do if I was Sather, and that is a 4 or 5 year deal (rather 4) for a max cap hit of low 5's per (would go to 5.3 but rather 5.2 as the max).

That's all I can comment on. Not enough...okay good luck Dan.

Sometimes you take for granted what you have. Look at Prust. We all said 2.5 cap hit per no way we can do that. Fast forward a few years and we have paid way more than that for guys to try and replace him and failed big time. Rupp, Asham, Mashinter, Powe, and others. Huge waste.

Sometimes what you have is worth more than you think.

Great Point. I agree 100%

5 y, 5.5 million. I'd do that. It's worth it. He's picked up this system and once again has overcome. I didn't think he could do it at one point. He's done it. He's over-achieved his entire career.

Ugh... I get what your saying dump but that's a long time. I'll eat crow if 34,35 year old girardi is worth that.
