So I turned on my Xbox ready to play some MW2 and I see this shit!

Likely this means I have to send it back to get it repaired or just buy a new one.

:smack:

send it back it takes awhile but i just had mine sent back to me takes about two three weeks for you to get it back but yeah... you basically have a new xbox when they send it back to you. also if you do send it to xbox call them first about it because if you do it online it will say your warranty is up but for rrod you get 3 years instead of 2. hope this helps

pwned. why do people continue to buy these fucking shit-boxes when these are known problems!

The new generation of 360's don't have this issue as much anymore. It is likely that Fez's Xbox was an older model.

"as much".

Its like buying a Toyota...it'll take a long time for me to trust their shit now.

I had a 360, it broke down...got it repaired. Broke down again...got it repaired. Now only works 15mins at a time.

My PS3? Too legit to quit.

Damn typo!

I looked on Youtube and there is trick you can do to fix it temporarily by wrapping it in a towel getting the xbox hot (resets the chips, apparently) and it'll work for 4-5 days.

This is an Xbox my brother gave me and he's gotten it fixed TWICE. This is the third time.

I think I may look at getting a PS3.

Yeah, I've heard that works. I dismantled my current 360 and put some Arctic Silver on the chip, they way the put on the thermal paste is awful. It's just like... Flicked on or something.

I also knew a guy who replaced the CPU fan with new one designed for desktops. Runs so much cooler.

I've had to send our xbox 360 in twice. The second time they sent me a new one instead of fixing my original.

Basically my XBOX committed suicide. I don't think I'll send it in. Sometime this week I am going to buy a PS3.

It's the reason I got the PS3, even though I had about 25 games for the 360.

:)

My DVD drive needed to be lubricated (heh) so I busted the box open (heh) and used some WD-40 to get it running.

Voided the warranty, but I was willing to take the chance.

That was about 18 months ago, and I got the RRoD about 6 months ago and... still haven't fixed it. I've read that you can take it apart, remove the little heat sinks they've got, and use thermal paste to attach pennies wrapped in electrical tape... I'm actually pretty confident that it'll work, but I just haven't been bothered to go to Radio Shack and buy the stuff I need.

I rarely used it, anyway, so I'm not in any big hurry. The main pain is when a chick wants to bring over a video game and I have to admit I don't have a functional system (heh).

The main issue is overheating and how badly they apply their thermal paste so it would make sense.

Just get a ps3 mang, God of War 3 is coming out soon.
