Disney World reopens July 11th.

It would have been nice if the NBA could have gotten the players there before then.
I'll be surprised if Disney follows through with that. On the other hand, all they really care about is their bottom line, so I also won't be surprised if I'm wrong.

Disney will have guests sign a liability waiver at the gate

I think it's a dumb move to put profit before public safety...especially for entertainment, non essential risk if you ask me...if I were a player I wouldn't play in Orlando period until they sort this pandemic out..people need to be smarter in this country if we're going to beat this thing

Inside the NBA's plan to use smart technology and big data to keep players safe from coronavirus

  • The NBA is using wearables in an effort to keep players and staff safe from coronavirus when the season restarts in July at Disney World in Orlando.
  • Players will have the option to use a wearable ring to provide them with a wellness assessment.
  • A social distancing alarm will notify players when they are within six feet of others.

It may be 2022 before the pandemic is sorted out though.

I think we'll have a vaccine next spring....I also think we should scrap this season and next season but it's not a popular view I know...

I'm sure they're going to play through this season the way it is....hope it doesn't hurt anybody going into next season just to make a quick buck

I’m all for being cautious, but remember that the players are not in a high risk age group. The NBA has said that anyone with significant pre-existing health issues, including players, coaches or other staff can be excluded from participating. They’re in a tight bubble with regular testing. In sum, these guys are likely going to be at less risk than the people working at your local grocery store. It’s their choice whether to play or not. They’re well compensated, but for the average player careers are short.

i remember willie caillie-stien has the sickle cell anemia trait and that they are at much higher risk to develop severe conditions. sorry but am unsure if there are anyone with other risk factors out there.

Lamarcus Aldridge battled enlarged heart issues in Portland a bit...that's a high risk condition if he has arythmia..I think Channing Frye had a similar issue

How about the coaches? Their age group and demographics are likely to put some in higher risk groups. Pops is getting up there D’Antoni too.
Edit just looked their ages up and need to add the pelican’s Alvin gentry to the high risk group of coaches

Mike Fratello is as old as dirt too...good points

Found an earlier post in the thread by none other than theHCP himself where silver indicated that the older coaches might not even be on the bench in orlando

The thing is after people stay in place for so long 2/3 months then mingling starts everyone knew the numbers would go way up, plus there are many more test being done now.
This thing isn't leaving tell a vaccine come about. Retired goots like myself can easily stay home and I do need to be more cautious and am wearing mask. But Im not going to hole up like a end timer/ survivalist for another 6mo. to a year.
When hospitalizations and deaths exceed capacity again is when they will roll back. But in Oregon the % of positives remains very low even though many more test are being done.
