Talked to knowledgable people recently, and got a better understanding of what might and wont happen. Since then, I havent come up with a single C.J. trade.Says the guy who routinely comes up with four team trades.

Are they saying Olshey wants too much for CJ or that CJ just has too little value to get something good back? Or that Olshey just loves CJ too much?Talked to knowledgable people recently, and got a better understanding of what might and wont happen. Since then, I havent come up with a single C.J. trade.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh realllly? Now you have my attention, lol! The Magic currently are tied for 6th in the draft. Unfortunately not throwing in Gordon or a bad contract like Mozgov, Fournier, or Augustin makes it tough to find a deal where both teams get what they want. Maybe a 3rd team could help?@UKRAINEFAN ... I spoke to someone who said that ORL is more interested in giving up a pick for CJ and not as many parts. Blazers want more pieces back.
I don't like it, so add other pieces around, but something along cj and Leonard for vuc, ross, and Simmons gets it there $$ wise, and has us close to out of LT. If I play around more, think we can get out of the tax in something similarOhhhhhhhhhhhhhh realllly? Now you have my attention, lol! The Magic currently are tied for 6th in the draft. I thought about something similar. I got stuck on them probably not giving up their pick if Vucevic is going out too.I don't like it, so add other pieces around, but something along cj and Leonard for vuc, ross, and Simmons gets it there $$ wise, and has us close to out of LT. We are $7,905,624 over the cap. So not as difficult as it might seem.I would wonder how important it is to get all the way out of the tax bracket this season. Seems like paying some tax was already baked into the assumptions. I'd doubt the Vulcans would green-light additional tax this season though
without looking it up, I'd guess Portland 'owes' about 10-11M in tax. That's not pretty but it isn't ugly either. I'd think a much bigger issue would be tax exposure next season so almost certainly an expiring contract or two would be a requirement for the Blazers
I've been watching the standings for some of the east lottery teams for trades like this. The Magic would for sure finish in the 6-12 range or make the playoffs and be either 15 or 16. That's why I was thinking maybe it could be one of those "reverse" protection ones where it has to be in the top-10 or whatever. If I could get Orlando's pick and it wasn't lottery protected, that would be pretty freaking tempting to have CJ in that trade. I don't think it's something the Blazers would actually consider, but the top of the draft is looking pretty good. The other problem is, I think CJ if he was the "star" of a team would be really good and maybe he takes Orlando up to 10-11 in the draft, I don't think that would be worth it.
The risk with that is they're a really young team, which, in general, you would expect to trend upwards. And we'er not trading them someone expiring. So there's that outside chance, with those protections, we don't get it this season, but then next season, they could end up being even better, and we run the risk of 14, 15 being 20, 21 next season or something. I'd want immediate return if I'm dealing CJ, with the hopes of turning around and potentially dealing that pick at the draft, along with Turner's expiring contract.I've been watching the standings for some of the east lottery teams for trades like this. Just to be clear; they still want to trade Gordon for CJ, but want to give us a pick instead of another player?@UKRAINEFAN ... I spoke to someone who said that ORL is more interested in giving up a pick for CJ and not as many parts. Blazers want more pieces back.
Agreed, which is also concerning. It would definitely be a risk but we could also probably combine our pick and the Magic pick to move up in the draft if there is a specific player we are targeting. Super risky that way. We also could get lucky the other way though and move up to one of the top spots. The risk with that is they're a really young team, which, in general, you would expect to trend upwards. Sacramento is going all out for the playoffs this year and are completely soured on Cauley-Stein as their center moving forward. I don't like the idea of Vucevic as a backup being unhappy. Is getting Vucevic and his bird rights enough for Sacramento to take on Turner? If we were able to shed CJ and Leonard for Vuc, Ross, Simmons, pick, we could look to trade Baldwin(or Swanigan) to a team for basically nothing to open the needed roster spot, while also getting us under the LT.
We'd have a lineup of
Lillard/Turner
Ross/Curry
Layman/Harkless
Aminu/Collins
Nurk/Vuc
We take a big hit at SG, and get a big improvement at backup 5. I think you'd look to increase Nurk's usage to make up for the loss of CJ, essentially surrounding him and Dame with shooters.
This offseason, Vuc expires, Ross expires, and Simmons only 1 million guaranteed.
We'd be looking at a potential lottery pick, our own pick in the 20s, and about 22 million dollars in cap space. I don't want to go into the offseason with a "cap space" plan, but you can go into it with a taking a disgruntled star and offering immediate relief plan. Then you make a big attempt at trading for a Davis, Griffin, etc.
I dunno, still don't love it, lol

Orlando front office.who is "they"
I would assume the team with Gordon, Orlando?who is "they"
Orlando front office.
He was clearly asking a question, nowhere did he insinuate he knows what they wantok, what connection do you have to know what their front office wants?

Are you not reading all the posts? @TBpup said that he heard from his sources that Orlando would prefer to give up a pick and lesser parts for a CJ trade. @UKRAINEFAN was asking for clarification if that meant whether Gordon would not be part of what Orlando was offering. It was also said that the Blazers aren't really interested in what they are offering."Just to be clear; they still want to trade Gordon for CJ" ukrainefan
that part sounds more like a statement of fact thus the reason I was asking the question. I didn't know if it came from a forum, a friend or some other source.
Vucevic wasn't part of the "inside" information.ok, and he got this from someone in the Orlando front office? So many rumors get floated around and majority end up not having any legs. I don't see why Portland would be interested in Vucevich and losing our second best scorer and one of the few that can create his own shot. We have a good center and lack scorers, especially ones that can break down a defense.

I took it as The Ringer trade that this thread is about CJ and either Meyers or Harkless plus a 1st round pick for Gordon and Ross is something that Orlando prefers to not deal Gordon and instead give lesser players but include a pick. The Blazers aren't interested.i was just trying to get clarification as it's hard to keep up with threads that go on forever. So it's Gordon for McCollum then which is a garbage trade for us. and I don;t see any way Orlando doesn't put at least top 10 protection on their pick.
