Had we won, or even lost a close game, most of our guys would have thought the playoffs were nothing different than the regular season.

Now they know there's a completely different rulebook (sometimes different rules for each team), officiating that is heavily influenced by "The League's Desired Outcome from a business standpoint", and more pressure than they've had before.

Now the challenge is clear, and they will respond.

Hope you're right, because if the Blazers don't win on Tuesday, it's all over.

Actually, they need to not win 2 more times after that for it to be all over, but I can see you've given up hope already.

We're gonna fall to 0-3 and then win 4 straight. A feat the Jailblazers failed to finish. Bank on it...

Coming back from 0-3 to win it has never happened, hasnt it?

The team has won a ton of games after getting behind big. Perhaps they are going to try the same thing on a grander scale and shatter that record as well. That way they would own the largest come-back in NBA history and the largest comeback in NBA Playoff history.

Why not?

I think Portland is doing the old Rope-A-Dope strategy. Let Houston get up by 3 games, then rip their hearts out.

At least, that is what I keep muttering to myself while rocking back and forth in the fetal position.

I guess he's applying the Pearl Harbor theory of playoff victory.

Step 1: Get your ass stomped

Step 2: Fuck shit up FTW

For other examples, watch any Sylvester Stallone or Mel Gibson movie ever made.

The problem with this strategy is that it mostly doesn't work that way. In 95% of all instances it goes like this:

Step 1: Get your ass stomped

Step 2: Get your ass stomped

Step 3: Get your ass stomped

Step 4: Get your ass stomped

(Don't get me wrong--I'm all about that 5% right now.)

Small disagreement, Mook. In my fan experience is looks a lot like:

1) Get ass stomped at home
2) Recover and win or at least make it close
3) If you won, it's on for Game 3. If you "made it close", ass stompings are comin' for you. Sweep city.

Sounds right to me.
