The Rookie Wall.......

The nets have played now 21 games and even though they are above .500 at 11-10 they are getting less and less production from the rookies. Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson, have played the same amount of games as they did last year, in half the amount of time. I purposely didn't mention CDR because he hasn't played much due to injury. Yi is in his second year and is just getting exposed for his major weakness which is defense. I'm not sure the rookie wall will apply to him.

So have Lopez and Anderson hit the rookie wall already? Or are they just going thru their first slump? Have teams seen enough tape on Lopez to change defenses on him. Is this part of the learning curve for the rookies?
Or is this just a few bad games for the rookies?

We need to keep track of the rookie wall since this team has so many young players on it. This is what happens when your a very young team.

I'm sure increased frequency of the basketball games takes some getting used to, but the rookie wall has traditionally described the end of the season when they've really had their fill. We shouldn't see young 20 year olds still recovering from previous games 20 games into the season.

I don't think they've played any worse as of late.

I don't think other teams are too concerned with them yet. Brook has really surprised some opposing big men with both his moves and his defense. But he doesn't see the ball enough to be a problem to anyone. Yi is separate issue. The past two games he was really schooled by some great offensive players. He is not strong enough to lean on them, and not quick enough once they have the ball. I sure wish we had Najera to work those guys a bit. Hassel was great tonight. 7 Offensive Rebs.

Last night against the bulls Ryan Anderson has had one of his worst nights. On several occasions he had a wide open shot he would take in college, but he hesitated then passed off. I know his confidence has been dropping, but now it appears he's second guessing himself.

Anderson has been passing on shots for weeks. I have to think in part that his backup role is holding him back. Yi has not shown me any fire since he went against Pau Gasol. Anderson for his part is a crafty player and I think that before long he'll get into a groove.

It may be wrong but I feel that the offense is not geared to a traditional power foward's game. we score with wing players for the most part, and occasionally have success with Lopez down low.

Lopez has been great, once in a while he goes cold offensively, or has poor early foul troubles, but generally his defense rebounding and blocks are nearly at their peak.

CDR... I'll give him an incomplete so far. playing very limited minutes, not 100% from the knee injury, outplayed by vetern wings, it's hard to see how he fits now. Dooling is great and Hayes is our key bench scorer. Buckets needs to get buckets in the second unit. I would not be opposed to a backcout of CDR at the point, Dooling at sg and Simmons/Hayes at sf. But so far his stilted body language, and high dribble have not met with the success I had hoped. He needs direction. I feel that he's a good all-around player but needs to step up (I'm thinking post ASG)
