I think letting SAR slip through our fingers was still a mistake.
Yes his production was down, but the Kings also acquired another PF in Kenny Thomas during his tenure. Can't move Thomas without show casing him as he had the bigger/uglier deal. Still does as SAR comes off the book the following year (pre-2010).
Yes SAR would had taken up salary, but it's not like the Nets other MLE deals, or even Mark Jackson and Boki put them at the 'next level'.

This was the Nets’ plan all along: use the remaining $5 million TE from the Kerry Kittles deal with the Clippers to secure a high-scoring big man. Oh what genius.
