...in retrospect, I think the Soriano deal should have been pending until today. If the Yanx were able to add a couple more pieces, fine, do the Soriano deal.

...but Soriano alone?...not much of a boost.

...not a happy camper...no reason at all not to move Hughes and/or Joba.

...supposedly, there were at least 2 teams interested in Hughes.

I am furious right now. The only thing they can do now is put in a zillion waiver claims and either try to get a player or block other teams. I can't wait to hear what Cashman has to say.

Lots of trades happen after the deadline, this is far from over, but NY needs help now.

Call Mike Burke, I think he's back and we just found out.

As I predicted - Cashman did nothing. Cashman trashed Hal & Co. for making the Soriano deal, but when the time came for him to step up and close some deals to support the Buyer strategy - he crapped out.

And in the event he saw that the market wasn't coming to him as a Buyer - he showed zero skill in being able to pivot to a Seller to take advantage of the market from that point. The lazy moron did nothing, and by all accounts had some interest in Hughes to where he finally could have moved him.

And now they are going to sell us on Granderson's return when at the beginning of the year they couldn't wait to rid themselves of the contract.

I'm OK with Soriano, he's not the big bat they need but still like him being back, and Granderson returning would help a lot if the guy was playing well out of the gate, but that's probably not happening, the guy will need time they don't have, still, he should help.

Incredibly, the Yankees yet again are going to turn their lonely eyes to Derek Jeter and hope he can get hot, and drag this rag-tag team of misfits across the playoff finish line. Jeter, with help from Mo, Kuroda, Gardner, Cano (some days), the pen, and perhaps Pettitte (after last night) is all that stands between this team and 70-92.

The overall standings where we are in 8th place and tied in the loss column with KC says it all. And to be fair, many can say that we have over-achieved to this point and I agree we have. So what is the reality, we are in a shit load of trouble.
