Chandler cuz he's $4M cheaper. Send them Vonleh.
So... who is this defensive center supposed to defend?
And whys that? That would be a mistake, IMO
And whys that?
Getting Chandler to be a backup to DeMarre Carroll or someone else would be awesome. Only allstars can change a first round exit team to a contender, that's not to say Chandler wouldn't get us closer. The thing is, if you're trying to get LA to come back, you do Vonleh for Chandler. You don't need 2 young developing players at the same position as your franchise player (1 of them won't get enough minutes to develop). If you're set on rebuilding you keep Vonleh but if not Chandler can help get you closer to contendingA guy like Chandler, probably isn't going to push this team from early exit playoff pretender to championship contender. He would keep us about where we have been though. Vonleh has the potential to be really damn good. I just think it's a better bet that in the long run, the organization that has Vonleh will get more out of him than the organization with Chandler
Chandler is a player we could have had at last year's deadline and we took Afflalo instead. Forget how that turned out just think what we must have thought of Chandler right there.
Or.... how about Danilo Gallinari? Supposedly the Nugs are looking to trade him.
We could offer them cap space, and throw in everybody's favorite throw-in, Vonleh.
I actually really like this idea: Gallo is the opposite of Batum in temperament, and while nothing like the defender, is similarly multi-talented on O, only with much more confidence. He's on a sub-12 M contract. He's a FA next summer, but the cap goes up, and that also means that if he has a recurrence of injuries, you're off the hook. He's a player I could get excited about.
The dude is perpetually injured. Quite talented and a better version of Batum, but often injured. Pass.

rather spend cap on a guy who we can sign for 3-4 years, not waste 10-12 mil even for a yr on a guy who is a UFA next yrBut he's not injured now, is he? And he's a pretty low risk, given that he's a FA next summer.
We have the space to take on Joe Johnson. He is expiring... Next summer we could have a lot of space again. He can still play too.
He still puts up 14/5/4That would be depressing.
I like Harris at PF if LMA leaves. It'd be going with that small ball trend. If Meyers can play center, and we could find a way to get Khris Middleton as well imagine how spaced the floor would be. You could give Harris and Middleton the max, and we'd still have cap space to sign DeMarre Carroll for 2 years, $12M with a team option. There are two scenarios concerning our SF. In one, we keep Aldridge. In that one we have much less money but also would only need a complementary role-player type. The Aminus of this world (although, if we get someone like that, we'll miss Batum's ball-handling and distribution skills even more).
In the other, we've lost Aldridge and we're looking for scoring and a possible young star from SOMEWHERE, and why not SF?
In that scenario, given that we've no hope with Butler or Kawhi, and probably not Middleton either (although he's certainly worth a shot), what do people think of Tobias Harris? He (or his agent) has just come out and said he wants a "near max" deal, and as Orlando has a bunch of good young players and just drafted a swingman in Hezonja, the suggestion is that if he gets a big offer, they won't match.
Question is, is he worth pursuing? (Yes, I know the general view is that Boston, NY and the Pistons are after him, but that doesn't mean we're not a better destination, especially as we have NOBODY at SF right now.)
(Yes, he has been called a PF before, but he played predominantly at SF last season for Orlando, and did pretty well.)

PG Lillard (36) / Frazier
SG Middleton (32) / McCollum (27)
SF Carroll (30) / Henderson (23)
PF Harris (30) / Vonleh (8)
C Meyers (30) / Plumlee (28)
Having Carroll and Middleton lock down the wings would put less pressure on Meyers to defend the paint. Having three 40% shooters in Meyers, Carroll, and KM would open up the lanes for Dame, CJ, Henderson, and Harris would have tons of room to attack other power forwards off the dribble. That's a potential 2nd round team, and if not you'd still have $20-35M in cap space to build around the great young core of Lillard, Harris, Middleton, Plumlee, McCollum, Leonard, and Vonleh.
Hell, I say offer Harris $15M and Middleton the max ($16M) on the first day. If Aldridge wants to come back you trade Henderson for a pick, don't sign Carroll and you'd be able to max Aldridge out. You'd start Middleton and Harris at the wings.
It's based off the main rotation spot and minutes each guy plays, but yeah you're right, I have an extra 4 minutes.Got more than 48 minutes/position there. Even if you move the numbers around, you still have an excess of 28 (can't remember where exactly). I like your plan though. Huge fan of Middleton, would very okay to have Carroll, and I think that is attractive to Aldridge. And if he leaves, Harris at least keeps us somewhat competitive.
