I've been solidly saying that we could only get Harden for CJ, Nurk and picks but if we somehow pulled off CJ, Zach, Gary, Nas, Ant and picks for Harden I would be shocked and elated.

Dame, Harden, DJJ, RoCo, Nurk, Melo, Hoodie, Enes, Giles, some unsigned vets and D Leaguers would be a really scary team for any opponent to play.
We would probably get some other players back with Harden. Like Tucker and/or McLemore. So there's that too.

Dame/Harden/vet
Harden/Hood/Elleby
Tucker/DJJ
Covington/Melo/Giles
Nurk/Kanter

There's your world champion Portland Trail Blazers.

March ....I think the 25th of March but I could be off on the date

That is correct.

Also, the trade restriction on players signed this off-season is up on February 5 if players like DJJ or Carmelo were to be included.

Tnx. For some reason I thought there are some trades windows.

you can't trade a newly signed player for a certain window of time....there are timelines according to contract status concerning players but the deadline is March 25 for teams to trade players

Man.... I'm so conflicted. I know it probably won't happen regardless, but Harden is my least favorite player in the league. I hate watching him. He represents everything that I hate about the league and he seems like a horrible teammate.

I don't enjoy the way he plays....but enjoy the thought of teams trying to figure out a way to defend Dame/Harden.
Good luck.

I'll go on record (fwiw) and say if we can get Harden without giving up Nurk, I'd be in favor of it. CJ+Collins+young guy+pics... do it.

As someone who has strong feelings (almost always negative) about certain players (I hated Iverson's game, I really dislike Carmelo's game at the moment)... Harden doesn't bother me one bit. His off-court stuff the last month or so has been ridiculous, but he's an unhappy dude in a spot he doesn't want to be in. He's lashing out to try to get moved from a team that blew up the front office, the coaching staff, and the roster. As a player? He's amazing.

I think he and Dame would be just fine together since they can both handle the ball at a high level and they can hit spot-up threes. They also can both get to the basket and get to the line. What else (on offense) do you want guards to be able to do?

I am actually not antipathetic towards CJ the way many on this board seem to be, and I like Collins' future in spite of his slow start, but... James Harden is a special player who has a couple of years left on his deal and he's worth the risk at the cost we're talking about.

Exactly. It’s not like we are going to win a championship with this roster anyways as well

Yet you always say you want to trade CJ. Exactly who would you want for CJ if not one of the top. 5 SGs of all time?

Hence the conflict. He wants to trade CJ, but also despises the guy who would be a reasonable and theoretically realistic return.

It's Eric... I stopped trying to have any kind of logical conversation with him a long time ago.

Danny Marang says it will come down to Portland and Denver for the James Harden sweepstakes. Those are the two teams that can offer the most.

Not sure why Denver would do it. But if I'm houston, I go for Michael Porter Jr.

Denver definitely has more ammo to get him. But it makes little sense to me because they put the ball in Jokic's hands so much.

Yep, if I'm Houston I'd go after Porter Jr, Bol Bol Bolivia (tho I'm not sure if he can be traded) and Barton.

I'd really try to wring them. I'd try to get Murray and Porter Jr.

Id assume the Rockets would want a kings ransom from Denver because MPJ’s back is supposedly like Roys knees.

The last I saw, Denver was reluctant to give up Michael Porter jr, but I think a Harden/Jokic combo would be deadly.

Can we trade for him already. This never ending purgatory is so old. Swing for the fences! It doesn't guarantee anything, but at least it is a shot. Right now, we are just guaranteed not to be a contender.

What are we thinking the going rate is? I mean, I would love to have Harden next Dame, but I'm just not sure what the cost of acquisition would be.

Who knows. No team seems to be jumping at him which might give the Blazers (who don't have the best assets to trade) more of a chance.

CJ keeps playing this well, that might very well be changing. Of course, then NO would probably not want to trade CJ.
I hope Olshey wouldn't choose CJ over Harden but you might be right. The only thing that gives me hope that Olshey would make the right move this time is that he has a personal relationship with Harden and we know how far personal relationships go with fucking Olshey who plays favorites worse than maybe any GM in post Jordan NBA history.

So at this stage, does what Harden brings to the table outweigh what we would have to give up and his potential toxic personality?

Outside of passing, which Harden is head and shoulders better than CJ, they're almost identical. CJ is two years younger and we would have to give up other assets to get him.
