It is going to be funny how many teams will make misguided desperation moves after watching what The Warriors did in the finals. I think a lot of teams are going to really regret it for years to come. I certainly hope we aren't one of them.
As long as we aren't trading CJ, Lillard or Nurkic, then I don't see any move we make as a desperation move or one that could hurt us in the future.

Jerry West going to LA means that probably takes the Clips out of running for Melo.

Sidebar, what exactly is a consultant in this NBA context? I really don't get what his role was in GS and what it will be in LA. Is he supposed to be the free agent whisperer or something?

When Joe Dumars stepped down from GM duties in Detroit they kept him on as a consultant...now that Bird has stepped down in Indiana they are keeping his status as a consultant....I think it's sort of a gold watch with benefits....

Markkanan is the real deal... he is the best shooter in the draft and his shot is unblockable. The problem is people here automatically discount him because of Meyers... but one has nothing to do with the other. This guy will be the next Dirk. Mark my words.

Next Dirk? Markkanan has no post game to speak of. :dunno:

Lauri is closer to Brook Lopez than Dirk.

I don't know who I would compare him to. He certainly does not have the one on one skills like Dirk (Nor will he be a HOF player like Dirk) and as stated he has no post up game like Brook.

But compared to recent lottery picks in the 7-14 range.......I think he will turn out just fine.
I think he can be better than Ryan Anderson, and RA is valuable.

Even with the Nuggets he was a ball stopper. Its in his DNA.

It's funny how everybody thinks that coming to Portland will cause Carmelo to okay a different, better style of basketball than he has his whole career.

He's shown he's a good team player playing next to Durant and Lebron while playing against fringe NBA talent. Somehow that means that he'll be a good team player in Portland even though he has never been a good team player in his 13 NBA seasons?

Y'all would hate this acquisition when were giving up 130 points a game next season while Carmelo is shooting 40% on contested mid-range jumpers while freezing out Dame, CJ, and Nurkic.

I hate this idea. They need to get better but Carmelo ain't the answer. To me he is dead weight and he would have a negative effect on the team.

Blazers need to get better but they need to get better with players that fit well within their system. Players that will mutiply the effects of what they already do well. They need to find guys that well match the commitment level the Warriors players have shown for the past few years. It can't be just about showing up there has to be a real desire to get better offensively and defensively individually and as a team.

That Warrior team is a machine. There is a lot of work to do.

I admit I said the same thing about him in January. I never noticed him on the court. However I do think he got better, as many freshmen do. He had some games where I thought...... Ok I can see what they are talking about. In 2-3 years he could be pretty damn good. But we won't have to worry about it because he will be gone before we pick.

Hopefully Kennard will be gone by 15 as well. Plus 1-0r 2 other players not expected to be in the lottery. We need someone to slip. Interesting that OG Anunoby has slipped to 22 on draftexpress. His outside shot must not be impressive in the work outs.
What workouts? He's injured, and may not play next year. That's why

Ok, slight modification:

Instead of Leonard, FEEC, Davis and the 15th pick, we ship them Leonard, Mo, Davis and the 20th pick for Melo and KOQ.

Then, we send the 15th, 26th, our 2019 1st round pick and Crabbe to IND for Paul George.

We now have our Big 5 (take THAT GSW), one of whom can actually play defense:

Dame
C.J.
PG13
Melo
Nurk

We beat both GSW and CLE for the title, Melo and PG13 are both so frickin' happy they both agree to resign here for a discount, we end up being THE destination for all the ring chasing vets who will sign with us for the vet min and we go on to win three more titles.

Ok, time to wake up now...

Well said. Jimmy Butler is the answer. And Paul George too if we happened to get him but I 'd prefer Butler.

Consigliere. He knows everything about everything in terms of NBA workings, has a huge contact network and is a great basketball mind. He'll just be part of the braintrust, as he was in Golden State.

Untrue. It was not as good as he made it but he always had back to the basket game.
I never saw it....I used to call him irk nowinski as a rookie....I think he started playing in the paint well into his career but didn't really watch a ton of Mavs games..he was like a giant Peja Stoyakovic to me.

Dirk's first 20 point game. It's the highlight after Nash Crosses the SHIT outta Jason Kid at :09. He uses Danny Manning in the post. He does it again to Tom Gugliotta at 1:11:

He was averaging 6 points a game at the time. Even HOFers need a little time to adjust......

Right. My contention was that he had MUCH more BTTB game than Markkannen may ever have and that calling him the next Dirk is WAY premature. He's much more Bargnani than he is Dirk IMO.

Let's forget about Anthony and go for Kevin Love instead. Cleveland thinks Love and Shumpert cost them the playoffs (I actually think if they had a decent backup PG they could have made a series out of it, but anyway). Crabbe, Harkless and Leonard for Love and Shumpert. They don't really have a SG who can shoot threes and play defense. Let's suppose they get a new GM who thinks Crabbe can do that. Jefferson is ready to retire; they need a backup SF like Harkless, who could also play more when James is PF. They figure James could not only make Harkless better with his passing but also could light a fire under his ass. Leonard they just have to take and hope he does something for them. If they want we throw in Napier. If they think they need to get tougher, we trade them Davis for Frye (I noticed Frye didn't play in six of the playoff games). Now we make this a three-way (aren't you proud of me Bones-Jones?). We send Vonleh and as many first round draft picks from this year and future years as it takes to get Paul George. We get Indiana's 2nd rounder back and hope to find a backup PF.

Would be more proud of you if you saved the link to the trade you assembled and posted that instead of just the link to the trade machine. :ghoti:

Here, I'll help you out...

Just saying, there is zero chance of this happening. If the Cavs are engaged in a trade involving Love and George, there's no way they're willing to do it if George doesn't go to them.

No to Shumpert... He's garbage... I can't even play with him on 2K...
