I'm keeping this thread going. You're aware that these links you're posting are all just regurgitating the same article from theundefeated.com that I posted earlier, right?

That is exactly correct.Amick is the good one and Amico is the one that just regurgitates stuff, right?

Do we not have the same issue?Carmelo Anthony isn’t coming to the Cavs
However, due to the depth and defensive potential the Cavs have at the forward positions with James, Jae Crowder, Richard Jefferson, Jeff Green and even Cedi Osman, Anthony’s fit on the team would be questionable.
Do we not have the same issue?
Vonleh, Collins, Swanigan, Aminu, Davis, Harkless.
Seems to me we have more than enough Fs and not enough Gs.
I understand that Melo is better than any of our forwards. But is he really? Harkless is much more efficient (+7 FG%, but also +4 ORtg, and +3 Drtg, better VORP, better BPM). And Melo will pull shots away from Dame, CJ, and Nurk - all of whom are also more efficient scorers. A team full of guys who all need their shots doesn't often work - GSW is an exception, and only works so well because Green relishes setting up his teammates. And Melo isn't going to make us better than GSW...or even HOU for that matter! And probably not even OKC.
Trading out a good role player for a player who doesn't really want to be here, and only is considering it because he hates where he's at currently, is a bad idea. If Melo was on board when Dame/CJ first pitched it to him I might be more into it. But he wasn't, isn't, and never will be excited about coming to Portland - it's just the lesser of two evils. Trading away assets for him would be stupid.

I do agree that his efficiency would probably increase if he played for us. But there are still so many other arguments against him - the cons heavily outweigh the pros. I fear that this will be a worse version of the Afflalo trade - at least in that scenario an argument could be made that Afflalo was a move to put us "over the top". At best, Melo puts us in the middle of the Playoff pack, rather than fighting for the final spot.I think the main argument for is that he would be more efficient with the team around him. He's never played on a team that good on paper.

Agreed - the Afflalo one made a modicum of sense! But both will end the same way...as failures. Now you're comparing apples to Viagra.
Those 2 trades are nothing alike.

Get off your damn high horse and take a chance man! There will always be a question mark and a risk in anything you do.Two different POVs regarding whether Melo will stay here. IMO, he's here for one year then gone. Giving up Harkless + 1st rounder for a year rental of Mediocre Melo makes us worse in the long run. I've said all along that we would probably be better for a season, but not significantly so. I don't see any point in spending assets on a one or maybe two year marginal increase in wins. It's a stupid strategy.
Melo waiving his clause to come here doesn't mean he wants to be here - if he did, he'd already be on the team. All it means is that he's come to terms with the fact he can't play in HOU, and going anywhere is better than staying in NYK. That's not a player I want to spend assets on - not at this stage of his career, and with his contract situation. Again, if the situation was completely different, I could be on board - but with the way things are there are just way too many red flags.
There will be other trade options in the future. Save our assets for a trade that doesn't have so many red flags.
Sure. But there don't need to be 5 question marks.Get off your damn high horse and take a chance man! There will always be a question mark and a risk in anything you do.

Also, I don't think you know what a high horse is...
