Carmelo Anthony linked to Lakers along with Pelicans, Trail Blazers.

The Lakers are rumored to have interesting in signing Carmelo Anthony once he becomes available.

Heard this too. It was on the ringer podcast.

Around the 11 minute mark. O’Connor mentioned he’s heard the pelicans, the lakers, and Portland. Didn’t expand because they got sidetracked on some other bullshit.

LA doesn’t make any sense but Magic is a moron so maybe. Spears said no on the Lakers and he’s a better source than O’Connor.

Pelicans were interested in Butler and they could probably use another scorer.

No national media guy mentions Portland unless there’s truth or Olshey is planting an angle, and that usually only happens with Woj.

This season will go from amazing to complete shit if we sign him. I won't watch a game with him on the roster.

So I’m hiding out in the lobby trying to get that blurry Melo pic..... no luck. But who does The HCP run into? That’s right..... none other than the restaurateur himself..... Babu Bhatt!
Said he reads the forum all the time just to see The HCP’s latest hottest take on all things Blazers!

Or speculation, just like they "heard" that Dame could get traded to the Lakers... The team is a success right now, and Olshey is in his most favorable light with fans in years. He doesn't need to plant an angle.

And if you think there was real interest, that this O'Connor dude would have the scoop and no one else would?

Being the only member of the media in this forum with me, doesn't "TrueBlazerFan" have the real inside scoop?

O’Connor was one of the first people to report Portland’s interest in Simons, and the only one that then reported they also gave him a promise. He’s not a nobody.

Yeah, he's more of a draft guy though. Name something non-draft related.

There are some big names on that list. I think the key to long term success is recognition of the facts. Can Melo acknowledge he isn’t the player he was 4 years ago, and willingly take on a reduced role?

Personally i think this can be taken both ways. This is why i don't like stats for everything Basketball. Obviously he has been in tough situations his last two years. He is also a very good player that could maybe work hard and turn these numbers around a bit. If you remember Walton had terrible seasons and came back to get a 6th man award late in his career with the Celtics. Not trying to compare Walton and Melo in anyway so all the rest of you don't even go there.... If Melo finds a spark somewhere he could get better numbers than these is all i am saying. Could that be with the Blazers? I don't know.....:dunno:

We're 10-3 and beating elete teams. If Carmelo goes ring chasing the Blazers may have a good shot at landing him.

Looking at the depth chart of the teams mentioned, I think the Pelicans is a good option for him. But based on the style of play I think the Blazers are an even better option. We don't run. Any team interested in getting up and down the court in a hurry is not an ideal situation for Melo. Which should totally take the Lakers out of the equation. They make no sense at all for him.

The bigger question of course is do we really want him?

Not only does Portland not run, they don’t force their players to only shoot threes. Melo has been efficient in pick and pops and post ups in Houston, but those are plays they don’t place enough value on. He could play the Aldridge role with the second unit with Turner as the lead guard and Stauskas/Curry/Collins providing the spacing. Defensively Collins can cover for him since Portland runs a conservative defense where the center usually just sits back and protects the rim.

As for Portland wanting him? I don’t see why they wouldn’t. Portland loves guys that get tossed aside by other teams anyway. Melo is just an older version. I also think Neil might be able to trade Baldwin into someone’s TPE as opposed to taking the financial hit by waiving him.
