At this point, Melo is probably worse than Meyers. Both can't defend for shit, but at least Meyers plays within the flow of the offense and can make a shot...
I think Melo can make shots and if he's getting some shots he'll play defense with more energy and better than Meyers. I just think signing him is low risk with a possible high reward.

Even in NY he had 53TS%. He's been a volume scorer who isn't efficient and sucks at everything else. The past year and a half he's simply regressed normally for player reaching their mid 30s, be coming extremely inefficient. Even when he was the star in NY, he was still an awful defender and now he's slower, and has less energy to give. It's a bad option.

Last night, the team scored 117 pts and lost. That is not a scoring problem.

Even if you are in the camp that believes Melo can still score with adequate efficiency, he will only make the defensive struggles worse.

I agree! If Dame, CJ, ET are on board with it bring him in. Low risk high reward.

In what world will La Las hubby play defense?

We could never use him because he has chemistry with NO One. giphy5CLJLMKFcookin.gif

So, waiting until Dec. 15th so he can be traded. That means avoiding luxury tax hits for teams he’s likely want to play for, as well as him avoiding having a crappy team claim him off waivers.

As mentioned in Wojs article, it’s probably more about his agents still looking for his next team.

I wouldn't trade him for a used Nike backpack. The only way I'd take him if I was Olshey is with zero possible cost. Not unless we can get him is for the player who's roster spot he'd be taking anyway.

But Houston is in the tax as well. Why would they want salary back?

They only clear salary if a team claims him off waivers. That’s only going to be crappy teams, if any. I’m not sure CP3 and Harden are going to be thrilled about their buddy getting shafted like that. Besides, maybe the Rockets can get some young talent or a pick.

I’m not advocating for him, just saying what the situation looks like to me.

Well, Melo can always tell those shitty teams not to claim him since he won’t suit up.

I think the delay is just to give Melos agents and his next team time to work everything out. I doubt they’re going to hold Melo hostage for another month.

"D'Antoni and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey have emphasized that Anthony has fulfilled every obligation and responsibility asked of him since joining the team."

Except for playing defense and making shots.
