Problem with Melo is motivating him. Dame can just about get anybody off their ass but I don't know if that includes Melo. He'd could legitimate another scoring threat that we so desperately need or he could literally do nothing. Not even return those high fives that Meyers demands on the bench whenever somebody hits a three pointer.

I wouldn't trade him for a used Nike backpack. The only way I'd take him if I was Olshey is with zero possible cost. Not unless we can get him is for the player who's roster spot he'd be taking anyway.
Just so I'm clear, you're fine with cutting a player to make a roster spot and still having to pay that player, pay Melo, and pay the extra tax for doing it that way but you'd be opposed to just trading that player for Melo so his contract goes to the Rockets?

What’s the downside of signing Melo? Like the realistic downside, not hyperbolic stuff.

“After much internal discussion, the Rockets will be parting ways with Carmelo Anthony and we are working toward a resolution,” said Morey. “Carmelo had a tremendous approach during his time with the Rockets and accepted every role head coach Mike D’Antoni gave him. The fit we envisioned when Carmelo chose to sign with the Rockets has not materialized, therefore we thought it was best to move on as any other outcome would have been unfair to him.”

My guess is they’ll waive him once his next team is set.

That wouldn't stop any team ahead of the team that was set to claim him off waivers.

I'm fine with trading a guy who was most likely not getting time anyway. Say we trade Baldwin and another player who's not contributing for Melo, what do we really lose? But if we trade a player (or a combination of them getting time) how do we replace them if Melo craps out? As for the extra tax, hell it's not my money!

CJ is a pretty verbal guy. Imagine if Melo gets on his bad side? He told Festus Ezili to STFU for making a motivational speech.

Levels. CJ ain’t stepping to Melo. Besides, those two are friendly with each other anyway and Melo has never had problems with his teammates. Ezeli was just some random dude that thought he had pull.

Yeah. As long as Houston doesn't try to extract an asset of value, I've got no problem with the risk.

Lol this was a year ago, but I don’t think players change their opinions as quick as fans. Plus now that Melo is being shitted on by everyone, he’d be a perfect Blazer.

I'm sure CJ has the same view of Melo as he did a year ago. I was asked what was the downside of signing Melo. It was a conditional answer if they had been playing together a while. People can react totally differently if their career success is dependent on another person's actions.

The Houston Rockets have announced plans to cut ties with Carmelo Anthony after just 13 games together, forcing the former All-Star into an early-season hunt for a new team willing to extend his N.B.A. career.

Before Houston’s nationally televised game against the Golden State Warriors Thursday night, Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey said in a statement that the team was going to “move on” from Anthony.

“After much internal discussion, the Rockets are parting ways with Carmelo Anthony and we are working toward a resolution,” Morey said in the statement.

Morey has an arrangement with Anthony and his representatives to give them time to search for a landing spot before formally releasing him

Damn. Just gunna wash their hands of each other. Looks like Team Melo is open to sales pitches!

If we’re actually interested in Melo, I still think we might be able to find someone with a TPE to absorb Baldwin.

Hes gonna go to the Lakers to join team Lebron

he wont come here. i can see him going to the 76ers, maybe Milwaukee. i doubt he would go to LA.

Swing player. Wiki has him as a 2, basketball ref has him at a 3

But who cares, right?

He starts (started) at SG for Brooklyn.

But even if he played SF, Melo still wouldn’t have guarded him since he plays all his minutes at the four.

But who cares, right?
