I do think the Blazers need extra offense from the forward position, but would prefer Jabari Parker.

well, Melo is still a Rocket even though he's been told to just mail it in from home

* does anybody think that Morey will waive him before the trade deadline? (no?)

* if Melo isn't traded, is Morey asshole enough to not waive Melo before the March 1st playoff eligibility deadline? (maybe not?)

* if he is waived, would Portland ever consider waiving Baldwin and signing Melo? (maybe not? it would cost an extra 4.2M in salary and tax)

*If Morey can't deal him, yes. Lebron wants him, Houston wants Caldwell Pope. So, look for a three team trade before or at the deadline to make it happen.

*If the Lakers won't deal Pope, who Morey Covets, he might decide not waive Melo, who the Lakers would look to sign (after waving someone of their own), to stick it to the Lakers. If he can't make a deal, holding onto Melo's contract for the remainder of the season won't hurt the Rockets financially. So, it is conceivable that could happen.

*No. We are takking about Neil Olshey. Unless there is another move to allievate some of the Blazers salary (They are already in tax territory) the Blazers, with Paul gone and the team likely for sale next summer, have no reason to go further into tax for such a high gamble.

If the Blazers make a trade it will most likely be to shed Turner, Meyers, or Harkless.

I think Melo would’ve been waived already if another team was willing to pick him up. My assumption was they were holding onto him until he had something lined up. Does waiting before release him decrease what they would have to pay in tax if no one claims him? Could explain it, if so.

Man all that talk a couple seasons ago about NYK trading him to Houston. All that fear about another superteam. What a sad end to Melo's career.

Ultimately, the Rockets are thinking of themselves first. They have no obligation to him, other than to pay him, unless thry can trade him. He did nothing for them. They are looking to try and get something for him before they cut him lose.

Baldwin for Melo?

I'm busy working!!!! Did Melo just get traded?

Just seeing this. Why would Chicago help? Cap relief or something?

Wow!. Bet he's on a redeye tonight to LA!
Maybe, he has to clear waivers or make it down to their spot in the waiver process. Since he's on a minimum contract any team can claim him no matter what their cap situation is.

Now Woj is saying that he might not get waived right away. They might hold on to him until the trade deadline just in case and then waive him. He definitely isn't playing for them though.

Jesus. The Bulls franchise does stuff like they're in New Orleans instead of a massive market. Made 900k in this deal

Lakers would have to cut someone to make room for Melo. I’ll take Beasley thank you.

Why? He's just as bad as Melo, maybe worse.

I wanted us to trade Caleb for Melo. Saves us from cutting a guy. Unless Chi wants to do that, I have no interest in dropping a guy and adding to our tax bill to add Melo

What’s strange is that Houston is low on talent right now and could actually use Melo.

I'd for sure do Swanigan for Melo. The Bulls already have Felicio though who is basically the Brazilian Swanigan.

Beasley has been better than Melo for a couple years now. Beasley hasn’t had a PER dip below 17 since 2014. If they wanted a scorer off the bench, he would be a better option than Melo for sure.
