So, I guess it’s time to finally drive a silver dagger through the heart of this thread. Melo’s not coming to Portland. Not even to play against the Blazers this year since the Bulls already visited Moda this season. He’s probably going to retire at the end of the year. Maybe he comes to town on a shoe deal? Nah, he’s history.
But the Bulls will release him....so the insanity continues.
TMac on The Jump says Melo on Portland would be a great fit off the bench.
Lowe countered by saying Melo might not want to come off the bench, and that Portland has a great vibe going and he doesn't think we need any distractions. Called us "an under the radar good team" right now.
TMac countered that by saying Melo was "perfect" and a good locker room guy in Houston from his sources and that he wouldn't create any issues.
This talk just won't die.Melo is certainly a polarizing figure. Based on his track record, I was convinced he had to be poison in the locker-room....but players keep saying otherwise.![]()
This talk just won't die.
Harkless by himself wouldn't have been enough though. Worst case we would've gotten out of some contracts this summer instead of 2020.Remember, a good portion of you wanted to trade Harkless for Melo just last season.
Had that happened we wouldn't have made the POs last year.
Which, in the long run, probably would have been a good thing.
So I admit it, I was wrong - we should have traded Harkless for Melo.
Nobody was looking at the trade as a salary dump. People (including Dame and CJ!) legitimately thought Melo was significantly better than Harkless.Harkless by himself wouldn't have been enough though. Worst case we would've gotten out of some contracts this summer instead of 2020.
...like we need another CJ...and Melo would be baaaaad CJ. This one we have is still alright.
Nobody? I wasn't on this board last summer but I was very adamant that getting Melo was a sneaky way for Olshey to dump salary while giving the appearance of "trying".Nobody was looking at the trade as a salary dump. Alright, alright. But, by and large, most people saw it as a good trade not a salary dump.Nobody? I wasn't on this board last summer but I was very adamant that getting Melo was a sneaky way for Olshey to dump salary while giving the appearance of "trying".
Every person that was against it I argued the financial benefits of it even if Carmelo sucked. Oh well, it doesn't matter now.Alright, alright. But, by and large, most people saw it as a good trade not a salary dump.
Well, he IS a hero ball, no defense playing guy that can't win a title.https://www.blazersedge.com/2019/1/22/18193609/the-jump-melo-would-be-a-great-fit-for-the-blazers
