That sounds like BS. Spotrac has him on a non guaranteed minimum contract at $1.3M.

One thing Melo does do well, is post up. This from just last season before Houston dumped him:

Anthony is averaging 1.41 points per possession when posting up so far this season. According to Synergy Sports, that ranks as the best overall among all qualified players so far this season. The forward has barely missed when he is posting play type, shooting 15-for-19 (78.9 percent) through 10 games

We really don’t have a consistent post threat right now, so he could theoretically help. Maybe Terry even utilizes him like he did with Aldridge. Pick and pop, post ups, etc. At this point, why not? I know I’d rather see Melo in pick and roll actions than Whiteside.
