Seeing @PtldPlatypus with GREEN under his name is like when you see that list of players accomplishments and the list has
Vince Carter
Gary Payton
Kobe Bryant
and Tracy Murray
......... @PtldPlatypus is.......Tracy Murray. #BAM
Strong.

Back on topic, Melo was strong again last night, as was the starting lineup on the whole. I'm considering the possibility that I might need to alter my opinion about Melo.

Maybe.

People can all say Melo might be the reason or not. The fact is there are five guys on the court that can torch a team. This game is and has always been about scoring. Yes defense and getting stops are important. But i have seen all too many times the Blazers getting a stop and turning the ball over or missing the shot on the other side. Making a shot helps your defense and even more when it comes from the PF position. It helps Dames defense when he is in position to defend. Same with CJ. We are all good enough at understanding the game to know when the other team misses a shot and then gets torched after three passes and then has to take the ball out under the basket they are much easier to defend.

When you have 4 guys on the court all able to break down their man it creates open looks for the big guy in the middle. When all 5 players are looking to pass and not worried about who they are passing to it creates "Flow". Look for the lob to start taking place. Every time help defense must react Whiteside will be open at the rim.

Offense does indeed create better defense!

Why so? Am i missing something here? Kind of thought it was a good choice? Certainly Kanter could not be the reason? Maybe Duckworth but i'm not sure he would mind a HOF player wanting his number as well.
Duckworth was a beloved member of the team, city, community, etc. Meant more to all of those than Roy ever did

I was wondering if he picked 00 as a tip of the hat to Dame's 0. Or maybe he thinks he's twice as 0 as Dame? Maybe 00 represents a reset of his career, like a new beginning. Or maybe I missed him giving a reason?

He picked 00 because it similar to the infinity symbol.

Melo said he chose 00 because he couldn't wear 7 and he liked 007.....James Bond....so he went with the 00......Rick Adelman, Lamarcus Aldridge wore #12.....don't remember Lamarcus getting grief for it even though Rick wasn't a superstar....he did have a part of Portland legacy...numbers get used...there are only so many...I think it's no big deal that Enes or Melo wore 00....I loved Duck but honestly Duck wasn't a superstar either...just a loyal, very good center...when it's all said and done if they want to retire Duck's number....they can still do that

I wasn't thrilled with Kanter wearing it. It's more about the team making 7 unavailable, but not 00.

The way they're playing with Melo kind of reminds me of how they played with Aldridge. Throwing the ball into the block, pick and pop, etc. If they can add Nurk and his screening/playmaking to the lineup the offense could really be unstoppable.
