Think the same about Hassan. If he were limited to a super-Ed Davis esque role playing 20 mpg, he'd be perfect. Our other 3rd starter, however, in Bazemore, just blows.

Id prefer to keep Whiteside as Nurks backup but wouldn’t lose sleep if he were traded either. Bazemore on the other hand couldn’t leave soon enough. Never thought I’d dislike watching someone more than Turner, but Bazemore somehow managed to do it.

We need starting forwards though, not a 20mpg backup C. Thats what I dont understand when people say they want Hassan as a backup C compared to trading him.

You see the scheme this team runs and how much they rely on their center defensively and on the boards? That’s why. But it just depends on Collins. If he actually comes back in March they should be ok. If not, they’ll need to find a competent backup big if they trade Whiteside. Skal ain’t a center and the second units issues started before his injury. Upgrading from Whiteside will be a lot more difficult than upgrading from Bazemore.

Think you forget how truly horrible ET was.

That's a good point, but I think there's good cheap options out there every year. There seems like there's a bunch of solid backup C's on the market every year. Also, I love Skal as a backup C too though, and I'm surprised you don't. I think he's done a good job protecting the rim, and is a solid rebounder. Even then, he and Zach fit well together, and we could find something on the market. Due to those reasons, as well as the expectation that Whiteside wouldn't be happy as a backup and would walk at the end of the year, it only makes sense to me that we use Whiteside to get the forward and/or 2-year contract we need and roll forward with Skal, Collins, or an outside option as our backup C.

This all makes sense. I did bold something that is slight conjecture though. I mean, if I was Whiteside then I would want to be a back up, but I'm not.

You might, but knowing his personality though... I don't think he'd be happy.

It just became terribly apparent to me that the Coronavirus thread might become longer than this one.

Not happenin!!

Bow down to rumors, blurry pictures and the longest thread in S2 that actually came to fruition after the OP took SOOOOOOO much shit for this. He def. got the last laugh!!!!!!!!!!

Now.....

Do you want him back next year? If so, where is he on your priority list compared to others like Whiteside, etc?
