Or they could just offer Al Horford and a ridiculously high draft pick or two which totally trumps anything we could offer by 1000x, unless we are open to moving one of Dame, C.J. or Nurk.

I didn't realize that BOS still had other teams picks...
Horford holds no value for NOP, but yes, if he's just there to make salaries match then the picks really do trump anything we can offer.

And I still think BOS easily trumps that offer.

If the Boogie/AD experiment fails, I'm not sure they would want to try a Boogie/Nurk sequel. I think they'd much rather add better perimeter players to surround Boogie than add another big man that duplicates much of what he does.

Horford is a chameleon. He's a near all star level role player that fits in well and doesn't need to be "featured". But the real assets from BOS would be one or two very high draft picks, either recent (Brown or Tatum) or future (BRK or LOL pick).

BOS just has way more to offer that we do, even if we're willing to move Nurk.

BNM

I agree with you.

If I'm Portland, and NOP are willing to part ways with AD for Nurk + anyone outside of CJ/Lillard I don't hesitate for a second.
In fact I'd drive Nurk & his father to the airport.

I don't think you get it... Let me help you out...

See, Nurk's big pop has a very particular set of skills. Skills he's acquired over a very long career.
Skills that make him a nightmare for people like you. If you stop talking about trading his son now, that'll be the end of it.
He will not look for you, he will not pursue you, but if you do, he will look for you, he will find you and he will kill you.

Come on Pelicans. Why would you want just Nurk when you can have both Meyers and Ed? Hell, we'll throw in Noah Vonleh. ;)

Could you even imagine a Davis/Nurk starting front court?

OK I'm putting down the bong, don't get excited. ;)

I only mentioned the 2018 BRK and LAL picks. BOS could easily end up with two top 5 picks in 2018 (or top 3 picks in both 2018 and 2019) They own all of their own future first round picks. plus the following that they are owed from other teams:

2018 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn's 2018 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2018 first round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
L.A. Lakers' 2018 1st round pick to Philadelphia (via Phoenix) or to Boston (via Phoenix to Philadelphia) protected for selections 1 and 6-30; if this pick falls on any of its protected selections and is therefore retained by Philadelphia, then Boston will instead receive the more favorable of Philadelphia's 2019 1st round pick protected for selection 1 and Sacramento's 2019 1st round pick protected for selection 1 (via Philadelphia) and Philadelphia will receive the less favorable or the protected of these two picks [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012; Milwaukee-Philadelphia-Phoenix, 2/19/2015; Philadelphia-Sacramento, 7/9/2015; Boston-Philadelphia, 6/19/2017]; the 2019 pick conveyance is included in "2019 first round draft pick from Philadelphia or Sacramento" on Boston Incoming

2019 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
L.A. Clippers' 1st round pick to Boston (via Memphis) protected for selections 1-14 in 2019 and 1-14 in 2020; if the L.A. Clippers have not conveyed a 1st round pick to Boston by 2020, then the L.A. Clippers will instead convey their 2022 2nd round pick to Boston [L.A. Clippers-Memphis, 2/18/2016; Boston-Memphis, 6/23/2016]

2019 first round draft pick from Memphis
Memphis' 1st round pick to Boston protected for selections 1-8 in 2019 and 1-6 in 2020 and unprotected in 2021 [Boston-Memphis-New Orleans, 1/12/2015]

2019 first round draft pick from Philadelphia or Sacramento
If Philadelphia conveys the L.A. Lakers' 2018 1st round pick to Boston, then Sacramento's 2019 1st round pick to Philadelphia; if Philadelphia does not convey the L.A. Lakers' 2018 1st round pick to Boston, then Boston will instead receive the more favorable of Philadelphia's 2019 1st round pick protected for selection 1 and Sacramento's 2019 1st round pick protected for selection 1 (via Philadelphia) and Philadelphia will receive the less favorable or the protected of these two picks [L.A. Lakers" on Boston Incoming

If they are willing to start throwing around future picks, which I believe they would do for AD, we can't come close to matching what they can offer.

In case you don't feel like wading through all the protections and conditions, basically, BOS gets BRK's 2018 pick without protection, and also gets LAL's 2018 pick if it falls between 2 and 5. If it doesn't, then they get the better of PHI's or SAC's 2019 pick as long at it's not THE No. 1 pick.

In 2011 the Los Angeles Clippers traded Eric Gordon, Aminu, Chris Kaman and a 1st for the league's best point guard. The person that collected all these trade chips was the same guy running the show in Portland now.

It is a long-shot, but NO is accumulating assets.

He has, what, three years left on his deal? I haven't heard any reports of him being unhappy.

This is awesome. Every 30-40 pages there's a good post in this thread.

Yep, I think you can forget about the AD to POR wet dream. Basically, BOS has the assets to get anyone they want. The fact that they were able to sign Gordon Hayward without giving up any of those assets is just rubbing salt in the wounds of all the small market teams like UTA, POR, and eventually NOP, etc.

To see if there was any actual new news. I figured that there was no fucking way they're still talking about this non story. But to my amazement, they were

Except clearly, there is fucking news. Lillard wouldnt be talking to Melo to try and convince him if this was a non-story. move along now...

I agree AD ain't coming here, but I feel like the past 3-4 big players moved, anytime it would be mentioned, someone would say yeah but Boston... and yet Boston doesn't have cousins. Or butler. Or George. Likely not going to add Carmelo. Didn't get (or likely try) for paul. Needed rebounding and passing out of a big, but didn't make a play for nurkic. I'll believe their assets trump the rest of the league when they're actually offered up in trade.

Danny Ainge is a weird dude, but I think the only reason why George isn't a Celtic is because KP is a moron.
