If Carmelo's reaction to Dame/CJ was negative, I don't think they would've bothered going into detail of how he would actually help the squad. CJ seemed downright giddy. Maybe they're just trolling, or Melo was just being nice, but I actually think we have a chance.

While I like Dame and CJ campaigning for Melo...how will Harkless and other rumored Portland players feel if/when this trade never actually happens?

My prediction for the 2017/18 Rockets:

Echoes of '99 Scottie Pippen trade.
In the sense that echoes are degraded reflections of the original.
I was actually just thinking about this comparison earlier today. It's like matter (Pippen) and anti-matter (Melo).

I'm actually not completely against getting Melo, I'm just against using useful assets to get him.

If I'm Melo, concerned mostly about paper things like money and origami, I gotta wonder about this new mysterious Rockets owner/owners and their ability to pay my salary along with CP3 and Harden and the rest of those guys.

CJ has got to roll up to this dude in New York and be like, listen Carmelo. Paul Allen doesn't even get out of bed for less than a maximum contract. He's got a boat that has a boat in it, and that's where he keeps a pile of jewel encrusted top hats. If you want to have a submarine orgy, he can hook that up. This dude was gonna send Pat Connaughton into space, but Pat got scared so he had one of those submarine orgies instead. It's crazy out here. Let's go get that Northwest Division banner yo.

That's a great question. I lean towards it would kinda boost his ego, and look at it as a positive. Another business wants him, and the current company he works for, is open to having him move back home. We just want something in return for his superior services that he provides.

Another clutchfans intelligent take:

"When i tell you the league hates harden and dont want him to suplant their golden boy curry, i mean it. They want harden to go the joe johnson or kevin durant route to get a ring, it must have killed them, when harden signed that deal

Also i know for a fact the media has it out for morey and the rockets, that means bleacher report, si, espn, turner sports and all else. Because of Harden and his beard its a status symbol to the elite that they hate"

This was gold, sir.

Yeah I get that but at the same time it gives off the vibe "Hey you guys aren't good enough to get us over the hump". That's got to hurt a little if you valued Dame's opinion like I think Harkless does.

I also remember reading last summer that Dame said something along the lines of "I think our current team is good enough to win it all". Now he's saying "We're not good enough." Which is true but not a good light when you are the leader of the team.

Shit, I think they need to read the ESPN summer league recap, to get a real idea of what it's like to get shunned by the media...

Lol, as if the Rockets haven't tried to recruit free agents before... as if no team has tried to recruit free agents.

Why are they so salty? Did Lillard's shot have a permanent affect on them?
Also, I don't seem to recall us being mentioned as recruiting ANY free agents this summer. Mostly, because, ya know [what up LA!], we don't have any cap space.

Oh yeah, I can see that too. (sure is nice to be able to see BOTH sides of the coin.... Lol). Hopefully he looks at the positive side of it, and there are no hard feelings on our/his end. NO did step up and give him a job, when he wasn't getting any other offers. I'd think Mo would be thankful for that. It got him to where he is now.

From what CJ and Lillard said in the vid, i think they didnt sell Melo on PDX. Melo will continue to push for a trade to Houston, but if one just cannot get done, i see PDX as the alternative to going back to the knicks. The longer this draws out, the higher likelihood he's coming to the Blazers
The longer it draws out, the worse our out-going trade package should be. NYK done fucked themselves. They deserve next to nothing in exchange for a player that doesn't want to be with them, and will be a distraction to their team for an entire season. At this point Turner/Davis/2nd round pick should be all they get in return. Olshey needs to stop being the "nice guy" GM - he has NYK's balls in a vice at this point. And let's face it, we're never going to deal with NYK again in the foreseeable future - no reason to keep relations amicable.
