Anderson right now, is a better option at PF than anyone we have on the roster. We're stuck with ET at SF. So if we can trade Meyers and Harkless for Anderson, it's the exact same salary going out, in order to upgrade our starting lineup.

Why does everyone want ET at the SF spot? He is a good backup PG. Let him distribute. Good ball handler and passer. His shooting sucks. We need shooting from the SF more than passing and ball handling. Layman is coming along fine. Keep ET as our backup PG to stop the other teams benches.
Aminu and Jake can handle the SF position.

We are still over the lux tax, so no full MLE
I was referring to the idea that trading Meyers, Hark and Davis for Anderson would trim another $6 mil which would put us under lux tax

If he's playing SF alongside Dame, CJ, and Anderson, that's more than enough shooting alongside him. And he can still handle the ball from the SF spot, and give both Dame and CJ the opportunity to play off the ball, which makes them much deadlier offensively.

But then no real ball handlers on the bench. I think our bench would get destroyed if he isnt out there running point most of the time. Napier available for foul trouble/injury issues.

What was the last time N.O. ade a trade that had been talked about before the move was made ?

Part of me still think he's gonna make some kind of trade now one will see coming

We need to hope we're a third team in a deal nobody's talking about with a team with better assets than Houston.

Typical NO type of trade.

I kinda don't think the Cavs want to give up Love to get Melo as that's, at best, a lateral move (in my opinion, it actually makes the Cavs worse). But maybe James just wants to get another friend in the boat.

We're talking about ET starting in the context of getting Gordon back in the deal. If ET starts, even when he sits, at least two of Dame/CJ/Gordon will be on the floor, so there will be sufficient ball-handling on the floor.

I thought Gordon was an SG, not a PG. If he can run the point, then cool.
If not, Id rather have Turner than Napier pickup up the bulk of the backup PG minutes.
CJ needs top be pulled from that all together in my opinion.

Jaynes doubles down that we're not making a deal with Houston:

"I believe this trade is a precursor to some other move or moves. The Blazers now have more flexibility. As I said earlier today, I still do not see any three-way deal with Houston on the horizon. Whatever is going on doesn't have anything to do with that proposed trade."
I can't think of any other trades that don't involve Melo.

Yeah, but if CLE Gets extra assets (Say, they trade Love and Frye and get back Melo and Aminu, they're more tempted.

With the way Neil played the Nuggets against the Sixers, I think we're seeing something similar play out.

If the trade was for Anderson I think it would have already happened. I think Neil wants nothing to do with Ryan Anderson.

I suspect Neil wanted Ariza and Gordon. Those are two guys that would instantly help us improve next season. Houston balked because CP3 is friends with Ariza and their bench will be shit without those two players. So Neil decided to wait. And I think he was the one who leaked the news about us wanting Melo. Trying to put pressure on Houston to cave.

Then the news about Kyrie broke, and rumors about a Melo for Kyrie swap started to surface. Now magically we're seeing Crabbe get dealt and rumors about a renewed Portland/Houston/NY trade. I think the Rockets caved.

How is Gordon an upgrade over Crabbe? He shoots 40% FGs, and 37% 3s, and brings nothing else to the table except for being injury prone.

Harkless is already better than Ariza, he's younger, on a good contract for 3 more years. Swapping Crabbe and Harkless for Gordon and Ariza is a downgrade.

The only way I'd be okay with that swap is if we got rid of Leonard in the process and got a pick back as well.

Id be asking NYK to take Gordon and would be asking for Lee back.

If Gordon is so shitty, how did he win 6th man of the year?
