I just kinda feel like we've been waiting on this Melo situation to resolve itself. The moves don't feel complete yet.

Given the choice, would you rather deal:
  • Harkless, Meyers, and Davis
  • Turner, Collins, Vonleh and 2018 #1

Definitely A.

I'm not ready to give up on the guy we took with the 10th pick in a very deep draft before we even see him play one minute of NBA basketball for what could end up being a one year rental of Carmelo Anthony.

A. I believe in Collins.

Me too--just checking. You were saying that getting Melo without giving up Harkless (or any of the big 3, of course) would be a massive coup, but it seemed to me that there would be worse options. I'm glad to see you agree.

A and it's not even close. I don't want to give up Turner after dumping Crabbe for nothing.... unless we're getting something else back from NY.

So if it's Harkless/Meyers/Davis for Melo.

Maybe do the TPE for Lee?

Dame/Turner/Bazz
CJ/Lee/Pat
Melo/Layman
Aminu/Vonleh/Swanigan
Nurk/Collins

I see Melo and Aminu as interchangeable so it doesn't really matter who is at which forward spot. In some situations you start Melo at the three and Aminu at the four, in some situations you switch them. In some situations you might start Melo with Vonleh.

Tired of these cries of wolf. Melo ain't worth this much discussion/deliberation, especially with training camp around the corner.

Look i can see why some don't want this to happen. But if you get a chance to get a pure scoring threat like Melo then you have to take that chance. The fact is a starting 5 of Dame,CJ, Melo, Vonleh/Swanigan/Collins/ and Nurkic gives any team huge headaches to guard and can cover most teams. Even GS or the Cavs. The Blazers immediately become a threat to make it to the WCF. They might not win a chip but that team would be a whole lot of fun to watch.
Will it happen? Who knows? But you got to admit the team would be a nightmare for defenses to guard.
Yes, it's almost impossible to construct a defense to stop a guy holding the ball for the entire shot clock

Look, we gotta get these guys from NY:

Melo, O'Quinn.

Is getting Lee smart? We just signed Morrow.

If it happens, it might not work out - but it would certainly get me excited for the season to find out!

This is my thinking as well. I don't think it will get the Blazers to the next level, but it would be fun, good or bad

Agree. It'll definitely provide a boost in the excitement level for the upcoming season and get us talked about more nationally & globally.

Would that actually happen in Portland? In case you haven't heard, Nate McMillan s no longer our coach. Our current coach runs a flow offense with lots of ball movement, and not an all ISO all the time offense.

I know that's how Melo played in NY, but it's not how he played in DEN or how he's played with Team USA.

Lee is a much better defender than Morrow while he still hits 3s at a respectable clip.

Yeah he is a much better defender buuuuut 12 Mil? Is he gonna play 6th man? That's a lot for a role guy.

He's talking about MEYERS' DUMB ASS!!
How much weight has Meyers' dumb ass lost? And besides, don't we want our bigs to have weight in their asses (dumb or not)?

He's talking about MEYERS DUMBASS!!

At first I thought he was talking about you, but then I realized he said "lost" not "gained".

I thought we were calling him Butters. Is MEYERS DUMBASS the latest forum nickname for Meyers Leonard. If so, the nicknames for that poor guy just keep getting meaner and meaner. We went from Biebs to Meyers Leonar_ to Butters to MEYERS DUMBASS. This forum can be pretty cruel at times...

I think bringing Melo in, at worst, cleans up our salary issues as long as we keep our big 3+ Collins... Question is what would your rotation be?
I'm arguing with someone on Twitter about that same concept. IF NY is willing to take Meyers and/or Turner back in the deal, then sure. But if they're not willing to accept one of those guys, and insists on something like Harkless/Aminu/Davis/Vonleh, then it doesn't really help our salary situation all that much.
