Should the Blazers puruse Carmelo Anthony?

My first reaction was shock and disappointment.
Now that the initial feeling is gone, I see where this could be a good move. It's a cheap, non-guaranteed contract which is a big piece of deal.
I think we'll get his best team effort. He wants another contract and this may be his only shot at a future deal. He has to know this is Dame's team and if he wants to stick he'll have to do more than volume shooting.

One question for all: will he start? If not, what does the second team look like now?

Crazy that melo will have his first home game in two weeks? Who the fuck made this schedule??

If he starts i'll throw up. The energy Nassir Little brought to the team in the last game is badly needed. Little could quickly become the next "untradable" guy on the roster while it's more likely Anthony will become the next uplayable guy.
 
On the Knicks he once averaged 4.2 assists for one season and had over a 20% assist% twice. Still not great but maybe he'd be a willing passer in the right situation.

We've not been a good passing team since Andre Miller from the pt guard position...Batum and Plumlee were above avg passers but passing is something there's no quick fix for with this 10 new player version of the Blazers....timing will get there but I fully expected a lot of turnovers early on with so many young or new rotation pieces.

I have heard a number of places now that “In the right situation” he can do well.
Also that Portland could be that situation.
I guess one can only hope! I’m with you on this. Very little to lose in the deal they have him for. Any upside might be worth it.

Every offense requires setting good screens and making shots. Stotts gets way too much blame for simple breakdowns.

I notice how you left out passing... which you were right to do. If we actually passed the ball more we'd be shooting a higher percentage. Passing is how you break down the defense.

10 new roster players now with Melo...first half of the season we're going to have turnovers and hesitant passes because of timing...I've addressed this several times already...passing will improve and we're not stacked with great passers in the backcourt compared to a Rubio or Harden ...everybody on the team knows passing has sucked...Dame talked about it..it's timing...flow offense isn't called hesitate offense for a reason

Some of the issue is new players I agree. The majority of the issue is that we're not running much of an offense sans Dame or CJ playing with the ball and deciding what to do with it. That's on the coach. Other teams have new players too but they aren't last in assists. Our two primary ball handlers have been with us for 8 seasons. It's not all about it being new players. It's about the coach just not running an offense.
